Panther II: King Panther (Schmale Blendenausführung)

I only want to say that people describing a lot of vehicles in a weird way.
Fake vehicle is something that for example Wargamming makes, like GW E-100 or WT E-100 (tho even them are based on real chassis, 100% fake tank is E-97).
Tiger II 105 mm isn’t fake it was a proposal and a drawing, it was a real design that never was fully developed nor built.
Panther II on the other hand is amalgamation of few ideas Germans had, but still not a 100% fake tank.
We have more of tanks like Panther II in game since GJ loves to mash different versions of a tank in to a one vehicle (like IS-6, Tiger II Sla or even E-100).
Its perhaps somewhat pedantic from my side but I think it’s misleading.

I personally do not mind adding vehicles that were never build but I would want them be exactly as they were designed. Tho I understand that those two (and hidden Japanese planes) shouldn’t really be in game and agree that GJ should add historically accurate versions of them.
I would be really happy to see replacement for them since there were designs that would fit, like that great model Armen Lozone is making.

The KT 105 as Gaijin implemented is 100% fake. It’s also a Frankenstein’s Monster of multiple projects.

It isn’t fake, its two projects combined and gun isn’t what it should be. Sure this turret isn’t modeled as it should be and it wouldn’t work with 105 mm gun, there is lack of few things that 105 would have and Tiger itself uses wrong tracks but it isn’t 100% fake.
Its same story as Panther II in game but in a different way.

i can try making the accurate turret for the KT105. although to be fair the depression issue will still be prominent

Would love to see that!

An amalgamation of vehicles can also be “fake” as there was no intent to combine both projects. It was just isn’t an original gaming company design. There is a difference, but it isn’t “it’s real”. It isn’t. It’s a meshing of several projects.

well i can try to model it after i do the bagel turret heh

I would say there is difference between “100% fake” and “meshing of several projects”, that’s my point.

Wrong engine, never intended to have range finders, sounds pretty fake to me.

If you combine several projects never intended for the vehicle it’s fake.

Tbf the project was intended or considered with the 230,234 and GT101.
So that part of it isn’t as far off lel

It was a project to uparm Tiger II with bigger gun. If it would proceed to production, It would have been upgraded with other thing that Germans wanted to put in to a Tiger II.
And as I said before: this turret is modeled wrong and it wouldn’t work with 105, I know it’s different project but its a real one. Tiger II 105 is composed of projects that were intended for Tiger II.

I feel like you make your mind about whats fake and whats not some time before and now you just ignore other people explanations. Don’t get me wrong I do not say this in a hostile way.

It was never done though, as in it never made it into reality. It’s a paper vehicle. Assuming “they intended to combine all these projects into one” is just that, an assumption. I’d rather see the sources than debate intentions.

You could have a Tiger II H with range finders. A wooden mock-up was done, so we know what it’d look like. The rangefinders for the project were built which means it falls into the unfinished prototype category. As that’s a major component.

Tiger II 105 never left paper, and as mentioned, Gaijin’s is some fantasy what-if combining multiple projects had the European theatre gone on longer.

on the surface kind of.

dig a bit deeper and it was ok at best

With this I agree.
Tbh Tiger II with this experimental turret would be closest replacement for 105, as far as i can remember there was also plans to put in it same stabilised optics like in Schmalturm.

That would be awesome

They weren’t “projects” they were proposals. Like you said “there is a difference”. It is straight up made up if many of the proposals didn’t make it off the paper. Not only this, but the gun can’t depress, can’t fire, the rangefinder is in the way clipping the breech… That’s not something a real tank would have as an issue during that time period and place. Only the track, and hull (it’s disproportioned, and armor isn’t correctly modeled). If it’s that minuscule it might aswell be a WOT tank. Heck even their E-100 is more accurate (not armor wise).

It’s okay to an extent to have vehicles that didn’t exist. I’m not saying it’s inherently bad. It’s just a “in moderation” thing for the future. I just want people to have fun so it doesn’t matter at the end of the day in the grand scheme. I’m just saying the difference is minuscule when you take it to the extent of the current Panther II & KT 10.5cm in game. They physically do not work IRL by law of space and physicality.

Thats why I appreciate the guy making 3D models of what it could’ve actually been like, close to the actual plans drawn up before cancellation.

It was never the Germans intent to “combine” any of these projects. Based on the things they’ve noted regarding the different proposals that got abandoned. Physically the guns, ammo, rangefinders, and crew don’t properly fit IRL with these dimensions.

The KT 10.5CM you’d need to make up a turret (I haven’t seen a proposal turret that was bigger than the regular KT). But I’d love to see the guy who modeled an accurate Panther II’s interpretation of what it should be in game.
