Panavia Tornado (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion

That too. Just wanted to say to Froge that both are in game.

Well, it costs as much to spawn a fighter as it does CAS, so if they shoot you down with AMRAAM than you wasted their spawn points.

PGM-2000 but without TV guidance, and irrelevant to this topic or ground battles.

Tornado Gr4 cannot carry any Fox-3s. Su-34. F-16C, F-15E, Gripen. Can all spawn in with both AGMs and Fox-3s. Meaning regardless of what the threat is, they can deal with it. They are not pure CAP aircraft.

This is the problem. The GR4 has one of hte weakest top tier AGMs and cannot multirole. You are better off taking the Gripen C with 2x Aim-9M, 1-2x R-Darter and 2-3 FnF AGM-65Gs. All on a better platform. The only major reason to run the GR4 over them was to have a numerical advantage on AGMs. With all our aircraft limited to only 4 currently. (Harrier Gr7 should have 6).

But the Brimstones are going to be rather niche weapon, and more often that not, you’ll probably find the PGMs more reliable. Just needs to be upgraded to the IIR Guided version. Additionally, GPS guided Storm Shadows would be good

While Counterparts can resist their air-to-air threat with ARH.
Tornado GR.4 just barely can resist against them with two AIM-9M compared to counterparts. Right…? XD

Of course, GR.4 might be better than GR.1 in anti-air combat thanks to HMD and AIM-9M. But still feels somewhat side-grading than a proper upgrade to me. Compared to multi-role counterparts.

And, I also think Strom Shadow might be a funny and interesting addition to Western arsenal just like AS.34 Kormoran on IDS MFG did.

Typical Gaijin,

Add extremely overpowered aircraft/weapons to other nations but anything the UK gets its gimped or missing substantial features for “Balance”

There are some exceptions but gaijin really tries to make a point that things like the Harrier GR1 and Gripen day 1 patches are not to be repeated… But it only ever happens because they have no QA team.

Meanwhile we have russians and americans doing bombing runs from 100km away with guided glide bombs while still being an incredibly capable fighter with SARH missiles and good maneuverability. Apparently that is fine, but the GR4 having 18km fire and forget missiles is too op.

Tornado F3 still misisng the ability to carry a towed radar decoy, which wont ever happen until another nation gets it.

The F.3 late may as well be the same BR as the SHAR at this rate with how crap it is, but they wont even consider adding better weapons, MAWS or any other things that would make it at least a little competitive cant happen, despite it already being DOA.

Sorry I Lied,

The F15I reaches 10km and Mach 2 in <2 minutes from a complete stop on the runway.
It can maintain 2800km/h in an 8G turn at 12km

Current missiles cannot even shoot this thing down.

If it isn’t time to add the Euro fighter Typhoon or provide the desperately needed “Overpowered” weapons to the Tornado then it never will be the right time.

The F-15I Ra’am isn’t finished, this is very much akin to the Gripen Dev FM and the Nighthawk being able to do cobra’s in full-real etc, its engines are overperforming by ~10-15% when I asked some people for quick estimates.

Final figures should yield a similar STR to F-15C with current -220 engines due to increased thrust of -229 and higher speed bleed for any other maneuver due to higher weight, so its still an F-15 with AIM-120 and HMS meaning its probably still going to be second best to… another F-15 (but this time the C).

IIRC Eurofighter with tornado engines would retain better performance compared to current F-15C.

Is that with or without the conformal fuel tanks though? Because i can see people just not bringing them into air and going ham on anyone who tries to dog fight. Although, i guess that doesnt matter as at top tier its about the missiles, but now whats the excuse for the typhoon then? As it wouldnt be bringing any new weapons.

Is the EGBU-24 modeled correct?

Still using the EPW2 model presently.

what’s the developers’s idea to Brimstone - Average speed far too low issue?
currently its speed slow down really fast, even gr4 can arrive at the targrt earlier,i sincerely hope that the issue can be solved

Report is in, when there is a resolution I’ll update the report.

Do you guys think it will ever get storm shadows. Not sure how they would work in game but they would be cool nonetheless.

I’d say we will eventually when all Nations get there own air launched cruises missile along with much bigger maps !!

With those new long range AAs what I want is ARM tbh

Certainly not this update, they would be even more busted than GROMs for taking out bases

If gaijin can solve that issue I cant see why not though

Yeah. In GRB, ALARM would be far more useful, especially limited to SAL Brimstones which work better at close range. And in sim. SEAD, especially with the new AF models, would be awsome fun.

(Gimme JP233 to use on the new runways :P )

Hey Gunjob, hope you’re doing alright! Is there any internal discussion or re-assessment on the implementation of Brimstones, or is laser only set in stone (for now at least)?

My own suggestion is repeated below, but really I’m just curious if the topic is even worthy of further debate.

“Say the in game smoke is “multi-spectral smoke”, which is a real thing that’s been around for 30 years, and already is in-game given that smoke blocks thermals. This provides semi-accurate way of explaining why smoke blocks the Brimstone radar, then make Brimstone FnF and blocked by smoke (so may as well borrow the current optical seeker implementation).”
