Set in stone I’m afraid, I went through all the possible options. We were left with SAL or not doing it at all.
This also puts us in a better spot in the future when A2G ARH weapons can be balanced. As we have the model done, it’s on an aircraft, the flight mechanics are all done, so it would just need the seeker updating.
Sometimes it’s good to get a weapon in ahead of new mechanics becoming available.
I agree and think on a capable platform like a Typhoon Brimstone will be potent, on the GR.4 at top br bracket it’s going to be a niche weapon system you bring if the enemy has little to no SAMs or are already losing.
I dont think the Tornado GR.4 is capable of replacing the Gripen, especially with the F-15E and Su-34 coming to game.
I don’t like to compare platforms where in there intended targets aren’t each other. Sure the F-15E and SU-34 are multirole platforms, but GR4 isn’t, I understand it doesn’t exist in a vacuum but isn’t like we can make GR4 multirole as it just wasn’t, we’d have the same issue with GR9. Eventually the EFT will fill this role for us but for now we stuck with RAF doctrine of having dedicated attack aircraft.
I suppose at this point we should have the Typhoon considering
the F-15E we have in game would have receieved the GBU-39 in 2005/06. The Typhoon entered service in 2003. We are purposely being held back.
Yes I know Gaijin dont use dates as a “balancing” factor.
Again the whole excuse around brimstones being gutted is laughable. There is a lot of other ordnance that can be launched from outside of SPAA range and the tanks on the ground have no idea that they have a missile coming right at them regardless of LWR or not because those munitions don’t require laser designation. “Oh no the missile can ignore smoke” what help is some smoke going to do when the player on the receiving end has no idea anyway so they won’t be launching any smoke to interfere with the other munitions that are blocked by smoke.
Bug report said they will not be changing the range unless more data is provided. I’ve not seen any changes in any of the data mines saying it’s increased from 17 to 27.
Maximum range was increased, so before it would self detonate after a certain distance traveled. Now it will only self detonate when the battery runs out. Which means you can now hit from 20km away.
Battery life could potentially increase. My argument to the devs was that Brimstone 2 improves on DMS in maximum range by 200%.
From everything I’ve read this was down to the new motor, there isn’t any references I’ve found to a new battery.
So if we take the current 60s battery, that would mean Brim-2 would need to be traveling nearly Mach 3 to hit out to ~60km which just isn’t realistic, so it’s way more likely the battery isn’t the limiting factor for Brimstone 1 and DMS. So I suggested a 10s increase on the battery. Just waiting now to see if I was convincing enough.
