P-47 All - AEC vs. MEC:

P-47 All - Air RB Performance Guide:

Thunderbolt Mk.1: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Prop85 should be used up to 6900m, then raised to Prop90. Time wear: (-5/-8°C) / 16min. 15min WEP. Fuel: 30min. Engine hp drop:7500m.

*Mixture should be set to (Mix90) at all alts between 0-9500m, for max hp to engine.
*Mixture should be lowered to (Mix45) above 9500m to extend ceiling.

*Engine off with (30sec) in white, then back on, usually resolves (Per color) overheat wear.
*Yellow overheat = (10min). (6min) after engine on/off power cycle.

*Cold maps: MEC chart settings allow Infi-WEP.
*Mod & Hot maps: MEC settings are designed to get to at least (15min) before Time wear has an effect on Mod & Hot maps. MEC settings should generally provide for an engine to last for entire (25-30min) Air RB match. If time wear lowers engine to orange, simply power cycle engine.

Prop85 with Rad16/16 @ 1000m = 510/536WEP kph (Hot) (Infi-WEP for first 15min)

*WEP hp drop: 6900m.

P-47D-16-RE: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Prop90 should be used up to 6000m then raised to Prop100. Time wear: (-5/-8°C) / 16min. WEP: 15 min. Fuel: 30min. Engine hp drop: 9300m.

*Using Prop90 there is a sudden drop in performance above 6000m make sure to switch to Prop100 above this altitude, The difference is (+18/+13sec) climb for the next 1000m. This can be seen in the thrust output. In general, flying this plane over 6000m becomes problematic, even though the hp drop is 9300m. This is the only plane (currently) where this behavior has been observed.

*Mixture should be set to (Mix90) at all alts, for max hp to engine.

*Engine off with (30sec) in white, then back on, usually resolves (Per color) overheat wear.
