How do piston engine mixture work in our game?

Does it have any major effect other than 0% no fuel and 100% too much? will it be different if I put 70 or 40, and how should I trim the value?

There are seldom any planes that have fully modeled mixture. The only planes I know that has it modeled are the P-47’s.

Pretty much if you put it at 0%ish the engine dies.

If you can leave it, leave it. For the few that are, in high alts you need to halve the mixture. And there are barely any scenarios where you will be atleast 7.5km+ altitude.

That’s just pretty much what I know and I sweat with MEC alot.
