P-47 All - AEC vs. MEC - Air RB - Performance Guide

* P-47 All - AEC vs. MEC chart:
This is meant to be a quick, at a glance comparison between all the P-47’s currently in game. It should be noted some P-47’s with MEC can equal or better perform than some at a higher BR.

P-47 All - Air RB Performance Guide:

Thunderbolt Mk.1: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Prop80 should be used. Setting to Prop80 allows plane to fly with Rad0/0 settings, increases top speed, and climb. Mixture should be set to Mix82 giving extra horsepower, mixture should be lowered at 10000m to ½ (Mix41) to extend ceiling. Engine hp drop around 7500M/6900WEP.

Details:
*Engine degradation can be an issue; the following radiator settings can be used to offset overheating as needed on hot maps or as needed for Infi-WEP:
Prop80 with Rad4/4 @ 1000M = 514/540WEP Kph (additional cooling option).
Prop80 with Rad8/8 @ 1000M = 511/538WEP Kph (additional cooling option).
Prop80 with Rad16/16 @ 1000M = 509/534WEP Kph (additional cooling option).

P-47D-16-RE: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Prop90 should be used up to 6500m then raised to Prop100. Setting to Prop90 allows plane to fly with Rad0/0 settings, increases top speed, and climb. Mixture should be set to Mix82 giving extra horsepower. Engine hp drop around 9300M/8800WEP.

*Engine degradation can be an issue, the following radiator settings can be used to offset overheating as needed especially for Infi-WEP:

Prop90 with Rad4/4 @ 1000M = 525/551WEP Kph (additional cooling option up to 6500M).
Prop90 with Rad8/8 @ 1000M = 523/549WEP Kph (additional cooling option up to 6500M).
Prop90 with Rad16/16 @ 1000M = 520/546WEP Kph (additional cooling option up to 6500M).

*Using Prop90 there is a hard drop in performance above 7500M/6500WEP make sure to switch to Prop100 above this altitude, The difference is 18/13 seconds climb for the next 1000M (100%/WEP respectively.) This can be seen in the thrust output. This is the only plane so far this behavior has been observed.

P-47D-22-RE, P-47D-23-RE: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. AEC likes to fully open Rad when using WEP creating a lot of drag, which is the reason top speed with WEP at 1000m is only 519. Prop75 should be used up to 8800m then raised to Prop85. Setting to Prop75 allows plane to fly with Rad0/0 settings, increases top speed, and climb. Mixture should be set to Mix82 giving extra horsepower, mixture should be lowered at 10000m to ½ (Mix41) to extend ceiling. Engine hp drop around 9300M/8800WEP.

P-47D, P-47D-25, P-47D-27: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Prop80 should be used up to 8800m then raised to Prop90. Setting to Prop80 allows plane to fly with Rad0/0 settings, increases top speed, and climb. Mixture should be set to Mix82 giving extra horsepower, mixture should be lowered at 10000m to ½ (Mix41) to extend ceiling. Engine hp drop around 9300M/8800WEP.

P-47D-28, P-47D-30(China): This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Prop80 should be used up to 6500m then raised to Prop90. Setting to Prop80 allows plane to fly with Rad0/0 settings, increases top speed, and climb. Mixture should be set to Mix82 giving extra horsepower. Engine hp drop around 7000M/6500WEP.

P-47M-1-RE: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Prop90 should be used up to 10000m then raised to Prop100. Setting to Prop90 allows plane to fly with Rad0/0 settings, increases top speed, and climb. Mixture should be set to Mix82 giving extra horsepower. Mixture should be lowered at 10000m to ½ (Mix41) to extend ceiling. Engine output decrease is the same for Prop90 and Prop100. Engine hp drop around 10800M/8700WEP.

*Delaying prop pitch switch from 8700M to 10000M with WEP had minimal performance impact on climb but kept engine much cooler (less than +3 seconds to climb from 8700-10000M and same approx top speed). That is why prop pitch adjustment is delayed.

This plane runs much cooler with Prop90 but for sustained WEP application without overheat, the following settings are provided:

***Infi-WEP settings (minimum of 300-330kph airspeed for cooling): ***
Prop90 with Rad0/0 @ 1000M = 535/589WEP Kph (Cold)
Prop90 with Rad0/14 @ 1000M = 531/586WEP Kph (Mod)
Prop90 with Rad12/26 @ 1000M = 528/582WEP Kph (Hot)

P-47N: This plane benefits from MEC over AEC overall. Engine hp drop around 10800M/8700WEP.
