How am I only thinking of myself? I’m not asking for foreign vehicles. I’m not asking for vastly superior weapons. I’m saying if Japan can get the AAM4, there’s no valid argument against the AIM120C, which is comparable to the AAM4 in terms of performance and service date.
The F15 could carry 6 or 8 or whatever AIM120s but it doesn’t in game. Limiting a vehicle based off performance that the game doesn’t allow makes no sense.

japan could’ve gotten numerous options from thailand wich would add something similar to the different versions of the F16 the US has being the thailand’s F16 ADF/OCU/MLU wich are possible additions that are more reallistic
TL:DR, USA is meta irl but the game is made poorly and doesn’t reflect that (not saying they should be superior to anybody but it’s a bit silly when the F-15 is gonna probably end up in this funny ass state where it’s not gonna live up to its IRL performance due to the game not having IRL variables)
you would have to take a look at the early prototype, the weaponry would’ve been the same, no AIM9M, 6 AIM-9L and 2 AIM-7, but with a stronger motor and slightly beter turn rate, the rest would’ve been the same
I’d argue the early F-2 variants compete with the block 70 and Sufa (F-16I) in terms of avionics but they have very capable AESA radars from a relatively early date in production so it begs the question of when they should come.
Ok so yeah a way better jet by far. You just told me that not only does it have more missiles than the F-16ADF that it also dogfights better and doesn’t really have downsides to it.
I guess I can finally speak up again. So, here we go:
First of all, rather than the F-16AJ, most wanted the F-2, or rather the XF-2, specifically fitted with an AN/APG-68(V)5 radar Japan had bought for testing on the XF-2. So naturally, seeing just an F-16 was disappointing.
But then again, at least it was a unique model, with various modifications previously tested on a YF-16A testbed, focused on compatibility with 4-8 Sparrow missiles, two of which on distinctive landing gear hardpoints. However what we got was not even the F-16AJ, it was simply an F-16A Block 10 with ADF Sparrow mounts. And on top of that the GBU-8 TV guided bombs, specifically advertised with the F-16AJ were removed, despite being on the US version of the very same airframe.
So essentially you had two groups, those that hated the F-16AJ by itself, and those that hated what Gaijin did to it. You’d probably need to search for quite a while to find someone that is fully contempt with it.
No, I’m irked by foreign mains that feel entitled to US equipment or superior domestic equivalents, while also arguing that the US should constantly field early or nerfed variants, or not be given its own vehicles at the same time.
A better fate for the F16AJ is to convert it to a premium. It doesnt remove many things from it and could be a new premium for Gaijin to earn cash off of…

To be fair, the F-2 does keep the F-110-129 engine despite the increase in size and weight, so it is a little slower. But other than that it really isn’t any worse than any F-16.

What problems would that change cause? We wont get fox 3s, and we Japan mains would pretty much be alright with anything new for Japan
of course it would win but only in terms of dogfight, for example look at F16C wich is what’s mostly comparable to, roughly same radar carries 2 AIM-7 and 6 AIM9-L, but F16C can carry 6 AIM-9M’s and F-2 prototype cant
You said to add it when the F-16AJ was added. It would have been competing with block 10/15/20s.
I’m not going to pretend to know enough about every nation to say what they should and shouldn’t have. My argument is only based on the AAM4 vs AIM120A. The game makes concessions at every level, I just don’t see why giving Japan the AIM120A for now is so unreasonable. I’m not arguing Japan should never get its own equipment. It should just come when it’s appropriate, like the AIM120C/D.
