No, I’m irked by foreign mains that feel entitled to US equipment or superior domestic equivalents, while also arguing that the US should constantly field early or nerfed variants, or not be given its own vehicles at the same time.
A better fate for the F16AJ is to convert it to a premium. It doesnt remove many things from it and could be a new premium for Gaijin to earn cash off of…
Edit: its not the first time gaijin did it anyway… (see Maus)
it has the exact same ammount of missiles, only thing it would be better, is in dogfights, in weaponry the F16 would still win
In your opinion, what should the top tier lineup look like right now regarding planes and missiles for the 10 nations?
jesus the chaos that would cause with the community
what, also F-16 would not win lol? You just told me the F2 has more missiles, the same radar roughly, and a better FM
To be fair, the F-2 does keep the F-110-129 engine despite the increase in size and weight, so it is a little slower. But other than that it really isn’t any worse than any F-16.
maus isnt a premium
I personally don’t see the chaos that u seem to envision…
What problems would that change cause? We wont get fox 3s, and we Japan mains would pretty much be alright with anything new for Japan
of course it would win but only in terms of dogfight, for example look at F16C wich is what’s mostly comparable to, roughly same radar carries 2 AIM-7 and 6 AIM9-L, but F16C can carry 6 AIM-9M’s and F-2 prototype cant
You said to add it when the F-16AJ was added. It would have been competing with block 10/15/20s.
I’m not going to pretend to know enough about every nation to say what they should and shouldn’t have. My argument is only based on the AAM4 vs AIM120A. The game makes concessions at every level, I just don’t see why giving Japan the AIM120A for now is so unreasonable. I’m not arguing Japan should never get its own equipment. It should just come when it’s appropriate, like the AIM120C/D.
Well it’s a situation where most other air forces choose quality over quantity (in terms of 4/4.5 gen fighters anyway), mainly referring to the Eurofighter and Rafale vs American counterparts arguement and 9 times out of 10 they win simply because they are more advanced and equipped aircraft but are fielded in far smaller amounts, this plays into the doctrine of america in the terms they will build something good and build a lot of it compared to European counters who typically put a lot more budget and development time into their projects, resulting in a fundamentally superior aircraft at the cost of large pricetags and in turn having relatively small production counts
Sorry for the text wall but it’s a topic in which I have been clowning on americans for a long time and it’s finally coming to fruition in game.
It should be the AIM-120B for historical sake but yes.
F16AJ is pretty darn good as it is rn, it has the block 10 flight model and the capacities of bringing AIM7 like the F16C, at its time when F16C wasnt ingame it was pretty hated cuz of this, and the F16C was afterwards added, the F-2 would’ve been the exact same thing with more turn rate and slightly faster, the situation would’ve stayed the same but in this case it wasnt gonna be a fake vehicle, altough there is still better options like F16 ADF from thailand
I don’t really think it’s that simple. Unless your job is to actually study these aircraft I don’t give much weight to anybody’s opinion if they’re just a hobbyist like most of us.
historical sake? F15J MSIP entered service with AAM-4’s not AIM-120B’s they were tested but never entered service
You or somebody regarding this conversation specifically mentioned that the F-16AJ should not have been added and the XF-2A should have been added in place. So please, we are talking about comparing it to the block 10/15/20 F-16s.
tested >>> never used
This would be an appropriate argument, IF Japan had a playerbase like Russia or Germany, however Japanese players make up a very small minority of top tier matches and ultimately, when taken into consideration how general BVR combat will take place will simply not have a big impact on the environment of top tier air as a whole.
This would be a more glaring issue if, say Russia receives an R-77-1 instead of the early R-77 since a large population of top tier air would have access to this missile, now you can see why the issue of the AAM-4 really isn’t as big of an issue in matches, yes it will be harder to face in a 1v1 but ultimately the platform receiving it is still limited by it’s radar
