I think he wanted to say that The 120B is being handed out like candy to other countries and the US doesn’t have it yet. Both 15c and 16c only have the ‘A’
no he did think that the japanese AAM-4 was initially american because he tought it was made on the base of the AIM-120
In game the A and B are probably going to be like the 7F and 7M in the fact that they are complete copy pastes, but Gaijin could have easily sidestepped this bullshit if they just gave every 120 carrier the B.
The US also spends a crap ton on European/NATO defense.
It’s fine to say XYZ about the US spending a lot, because we do. However a significant portion of our budget goes to helping other nations fund their militaries since they seem to be incapable of or unwilling to do it on their own (Like Canada failing to hit it’s 2% GDP rate and the US stepping in to help). Whenever the US tries to withdrawal, there are often many complaints and complications in nearby towns or the towns these bases are located in since they lose a source of income and stability.
Yes, the United States may seem “weaker” in relation to other countries in Europe at times. However that weakness often stems from having to find your base programs, so you can afford to spend money on experimental programs. In all, while yeah, the US suffers from XYZ, ultimately XYZ is caused by funding non-US forces. For example, we may be able to afford 100 more raptors had we not had to spend it on Euro defense (this is an example and not exact numbers. Do not quote this as factual numbers: they are merely here for point making). Or perhaps we could open up an experimental missile program. Or upgrade past the Aim-9 series. Etc. etc. etc.
this turned into who can spend more budget on their military very quickly
To be fair it’s the reason as to why other people have better missiles than the US so it isn’t wholly irrelevant to the conversation
i mean other countries develop electronics much quicker than the US because they spend a lot in more sectors than in one specific area
Does the f22 even have gimbal range/good angles on it’s radar to do bvr duels? Not sure how true this is but i’ve recall seeing some information stating the radar is in a fixed possition
I’m not too familiar but a quick search shows the AN/APG77 can scan over 300 miles and 120 degree arc.
Its an early AESA
The take is awful because you’re justifying Japan getting a modern ARH based on the AMRAAM C when america is only getting the A. That means it is fair for them to put the C in, not the A, and even then AAM-4 would be better than AMRAAM C by some margin
AAM-4 is a domestic missile that would bring something unique to grinding the japanese F15C over the american one, the missile is still pretty unfinished and we still need to see yet how will it actually perform over other AMRAAMS, something rather funny the AIM-120 C was roughly made almost at the same time as the AAM-4 with the AAM-4 entering service in 1999 and the AIM-120C entering service with the US in 1996, they both were developing their own missilies, japan didnt use the AIM-120C as a base for anything cuz they never got the AIM-120C before the introduction of the AAM-4
to be more precise the AIM-120 C started its developement in 1990 and the AAM-4 started in 1994, the AAM-4 was made to replace the older AIM-7 sparrows and in fact you can see some of the tech for the AAM-4 being more similar to the sparrow than the AIM-120, they just created their own electronics new aerodynamics calculations and managed to develop a missile with very high standards
Not quite. It’s a domestic development that was started to compete with the AMRAAM, as it was a thought that the US would not export them. Even Japanese tests with AIM-120B missiles only came after the missile had already been under development.
The closest US missile the AAM-4 could be “based on” would be the AIM-7M that it replaced in Japanese service.
It’s still considered an AIM-120C-5 equivalent, but it is in no way based on any AMRAAM.
As for balance I’d assume that would be done through numbers, as AAM-4s don’t fit the wing mounted LAU-128 rails, while the F-15J(M)s AMRAAMs would not be allowed to mix with the AAM-4. However for some reason the F-15s currently don’t get wing mounted AMRAAMs, while the F-15J(M) doesn’t get any at all.
Which one is the best in the dev huh
It does matter if someone has something better then you what matters is if you are completive
not only that AIM-120 has is advantages too, if they code it correctly my guesses is that based on the diameter and weight AIM-120 should retain more energy at longer ranges but AAM-4 has higher range than AIM-120 basically rn its still WIP
I’m aware. It’s not always fair to even try to be fair. Clearly there is some massive power imbalance going on with the ARH update.
we can simply go by irl stats. if gaijin decides to artificially nerf things once again that should also be rebelled and rallied against as its an incredibly bad dev practice on top of going against what the game is about.
You know how stupid this makes you look from like 3 different angles?
i mean it depends on gaijin there, let the council decide the fate of AIR RB and then we can complain
What are you talking about
