The old 120 f2 wouldn’t even be that much of a improvement it’s just using a du penetrator instead of a tungsten one it’s not this magic dart lmao it’s a small improvement if anything

There was already OFL 120 F1, which – I won’t go over it all again – was already underperforming for the reasons I mentioned above.
Now Gaijin finally decided to add OFL 120 F2, but only as the stock ammo, because the “holy Gaijin calculator” says F2 is worse than F1.
Some bug reports have been submitted, like the one I linked above, which is very well written and backed up with sources, but Gaijin closed it for “unreliable sources”.
I won’t go into politics here, but in my opinion, you’re definitely pointing in the right direction.

All politics aside : I don’t understand the logic behind making the F2 pen actually less than the F1.
I mean… what ?? French authorities just decided to make a heavier and less performant version of the original dart… as a second version of it ? It makes no sense at all

Ammo changes must be done by supplying dimensional data, & using Lanz Odermatt calculator.
Gaijin has never modeled APFSDS ammo based on test results, and they won’t start now just cause someone wants them to.
The thing is, it only has less pen at close range.
At 2000 meters, their penetration is almost the same against angled plates [since flat armor doesn’t exist on MBTs].

Like what? No round in-game is calculated with frustum length/diameter. This is nothing unique to the OFL 120 F2.
The OFL 120 F2 uses the exact same length and diameter as the OFL 120 F1 which is rightfully identical to DM43.
OFL 120 F2 is slightly slower due to it being a heavier round.
Their densities are represented correctly.
If you believe any of this is wrong, you have to provide sources.
No point providing additionnal sources when the bug reports get automatically denied, even with heavy sources brought to it. There is a double standard.

From what i have seen of the report for the f2 it didnt provide any information about these parameters that you claimed that were wrong.
Irl there are more factors that are not accounted into the game, for example du is significantly less expensive.

The US has the biggest budget in the planet yet they copied an iranian drone because it was cheaper to produce, money is always a factor
DU is cheaper than tungsten, that’s the main reason it is used on the manufacturing of APFSDS rounds. It would be enough reason to make those, since France operates nuclear power plants and can use the waste materials for that.
If it should be stronger, similar or weaker than F1 I have no clue. Warthunder modern era stuff is mostly (russian) fantasy anyway

The point of drones is to make a cheap war, so of course they’ll use the cheapest one if they can. A drone is just a tiny paper plane with individual use.
You don’t make savings over darts, especially if you have a professionnal army like the french one, which isn’t big but put the money where it’s needed to get the best tech and equipments each time from it. They’re not cheap. Totally the contrary of the russian and american doctrine btw

“Un dossier explosif” only mentions the penetration of 640 at 2000m, they dont say anything about the penetrator parameters.
“CN-120 (F1) “Lisse” 120mm Tank Gun”, this only mentions that the f2 have better penetration, nothing about the dimensions of the round
