Good point I forgot the Alpha jet exists, whoops. But IIRC the reason it got through was because there was pressure for both sides to unfuck their shit and get a damn aircraft in the air asap, no?
Pretty sure Germany would insist on using US made engines/weapons (might be pulling things from my rear on the weapons part) and that’s basically the death of the collab right there because no way France agrees to that lol, especially in the current climate.

IIRC some RAF pilots went over to Australia to fly the ol F18 and came back saying that the F18 was better at everything the Tornado did. Honestly the more I read about the Tornado the more convinced I am the UK got sold a boondogle, by the time the Tornado came out the low level strike concept was basically dead. Really not sure what the exact point of the Tornado was appart from scoring a political victory for the UK labour gov of the time. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can chip in :)

That jet is so painful these days with the nonsense compression around 8.0
I agree that the compression between 8.0 and 9.3 is absolutely insane, it’s crazy how 8.3 subsonic gunfighters frequently face 9.3 mach 2 missile slingers.
I also have pretty bad memories from the mystere 2A at 8.0 but that has to do with the fact that I don’t like how the mysteres play

Yeah I agree they should decompress it all starting at 8.0 all the way up, it’s just that I haven’t gone further than 9.0 yet so can’t tell how bad it is up there
Idk it’s alright around 9.0-10.0, I’d say 10.0-11.0 is probably the most balanced ARB BR at the moment.
8.3 also feels great whenever I fly the A4H or my Vautour, and you can easily defeat missiles with Nords or rocket pods.
