I’m not overly experienced in Soviet/RU planes, so i’m probably not the best person to ask, but every time I have played my 29SMT since Fox-3 were added… it’s been a pretty awful experience lol.
Honestly, I just really don’t understand what i’m supposed to do with it. If you take it high - the Eagles and now EF’s will bully the living daylights out of it. If you stay low, the Falcons / Gripens / EF’s / J10 / Mirages will rip it to shreds.
Even deciding what missiles to carry conflicts me. R-77’s are the only reason this thing is at the BR it is, so it feels wrong to not bring 4-6 of them. But R-77 is one of (If not the?) weakest top tier Fox-3. Whereas comparatively, 27ET is the best LR-IR ingame, and R73 is the best SR-IR ingame.
So what do you do lol? If you play to its IR strenghts… you’re basically just an over BR’d MiG-29G. If you play with R77, You’re accepting being disadvantaged to everything you face, and if you take a hybrid 2x27ET / 2xR77 / 2xR73 load, it feels like you don’t have enough of any one thing.
I put my RU tree on ice until they get some more competitive aircraft.
Top tier has been slop for me since the F-4E, I’ve only went out of my way to unlock the Tornado GR.1 and JH-7 just for GRB which left me high and dry when the Su-25SM3 dropped (and later Su-34) and top tier lineups required top tier fighters or you frequently get rolled by Kh-38s with no real way of fighting back.
It’s not helped by Air RB just not being fun or immersive anymore, 8.0+ not being very good in terms of balance and stock 12.7+ aircraft can’t be grinded out in Air Assault since they’ve been excluded from match making since March iirc; so absolutely no way to grind essential mods like Chaff without GE or eating **** for a few dozen games.
Hell
I’m still working on a practical key bind set for controller since there’s a billion controls required for top tier jets
Edit: Not real, says made in India on the bottom :P going to hit up my local surplus store when I get back home though.
Edit two: Looking at real ones, it looks pretty identical to real ones, can’t say for sure though, maybe someone just stuck a sticker on the bottom of it from something else. In real images don’t look galvanized.
Is HMD wildly bad/inaccurate sometimes for anyone else?
Sometimes it works fine for me (in the Mig-29A), but other times it refuses to lock a plane a few km away that I’m chasing. Other times it would rather lock a friendly 10km away than an enemy 5km away.
