the end of the Cold War made it so there were no true enemies so the 'commie" Canadians were now a threat to the Yanks. so the relationship began to break down.
on top of that the US interfered with our army and other defences more times than I can count. the most famous story is how they stopped us from getting nuclear submarines to defend our Arctic.
even today they continue to do things like that. the “North-West Passage” is the big one that cuts through Canadian Territory and hugs the Northern Mainland cost.
Greece–Turkey isn’t too far off from Canada-US relations nowadays.
The US for its entire history has wanted to take over Canada it’s why Canada EXISTS because the people there didn’t want to be Yanks.
There was never any friendship the was only an alliance of necessity. Without the Soviet threat, it is basically granted they wouldn’t have been allies.

Canada and the US are historically close allies and share lots of military tech. That is all that really matters for WT. You could imagine the Taiwanese players aren’t too thrilled to be part of the chinese tech tree either, but that’s just how the game works.

I think that was because the Chinese tree was first on the Tencent server and that is owned by China.
And china views Taiwan as part of their territory
Well, Taiwan also only seperated from China after WW2, so that probably is a big factor as well

Did you somehow forget that these nations also produce their own unique planes (or at least unique plane derivates/variants in case of israel) AND tanks?
Yeah, no shit, every nation in War Thunder has copy paste to some degree and every future nation will have that as well.
Canada only has the LAVs, which are also used and built by the US (and are derived from the swiss Mowags btw) and those Rams and Grizzlies. In terms of planes Canada only has the CF-100 (and maybe the Arrow), which isn’t even good for the kind of gameplay we have in WT. Their other planes aren’t modified to any noticeable degree. They don’t even have proper combat capable helicopters.
Are some failed WW2 tank designs and a line of light tanks (which don’t even get into top tier) that are largely shared with a neighbouring, allied nation, which also provides most of the planes to canada, really enough to become a fully fledged nation in WT?

I’ve been saying that a lot as well.
Aussies don’t have enough(I don’t think so but I’ve only ever seen one independent tree for them) but I’ve seen plenty of small Canadian trees with next to or no Copy-and-paste.
Well, I don’t care whether is the Aussie or the Canadian that are the face of the tree it looks like it would work like this from what I’ve seen and how the snail wants to do tech trees:
Canada (face of tree) Australia(subtree) New Zealand (there)
We got both Canada and Australia a home and the community gets a “Commonwealth tree” at the same time. (A popular option)
If what Sweden thought us Australia has alot properly more than the Swedish air did at launch.
Don’t get me stated on the Turbo Boomerang nor the Kangaroo hehe. Ground has some awesome stuff as well which some has already have make it to the game but yea it can be added.

Where one falls short the other picks up the slack.
Australia and Zealand built to defend their homeland, and Canada built for lend-lease(and had more than a small piece of that pie).
but it still comes down to who’s added first.
I say Canada due to being strong on the ground but they are ok in the air. (I can make something work with just domestic version/licensed built stuff. both seem to be the same thing to aircraft listing websites and places a licensed built craft as a domestic variant.)
Australia on the other hand is stronger in the air but be one of the weakest ground nation I’ve seen.
I just realized this sounds like it’s a Canadian tree relying on an Australian air tree. It’s not wrong it’s where the Aussie would be the most helpful.
The best way to do it, it’s to give the tree its sub-nation within the same year. late say “Canada” was added in the spring update “Australia” should come in the fall update.
Countries are interchangeable in my example.

Yea and they even had their own series of Mustangs too so around 3.0 to 5.0 isn’t lacking. Just a shame that even though they haven’t said it and pretend not to they will be just a filler country which is a shame
