NVIDIA DLSS 5 Is Coming to War Thunder!

news stations are about to have a stroke with the incoming fake war footage im already calling it. even worse its gonna be hard for us to also tell if its really warthunder upscaled or real footage. i already saw someone play with dlss5 and DAMN does it look realistic. like i kid you not i thought i was watching AI colourised WW2 footage. but overall i think this is actually really cool even if it uses AI but honestly AI is a tiny bit over-hated (while there are certainly parts where AI use is to be criticised, there are also parts where AI is ok to use, like with upscaling old footage or upscaling old photos)

Sorry, missed your question.
At this point DLSS5 is officially compatible only with RTX 50 series (and Nvidia Spark).

Doesn’t most of the war thunder user base use the early RTX series and GTX series or AMD series cards ?
Why add DLSS 5, when game isn’t very optimize ?

What is this even meant to be complaining about? DLSS 5 is the newest Nvidia DLSS standard, as a game that officially supports DLSS and other Nvidia technologies, War Thunder is expected to upgrade to the latest iterations of these as quickly as possible.

Just because you may not be able to use it does not mean the technology should not be adopted, it’s a net positive. It’s also optional, if you don’t like it, you can simply keep it off and the game will remain as it always was.

6x frame generation required to hit the old fps incoming

You can check market share for specific GPUs.
I do not have data for WT players.

WT is highly optimized and works on really low end specs. Of course it will not look same like on screens made on high-end rig, but it works.
From time to time, I see a random thread in the community tech section, where someone asks for an optimisation guide for hardware, that is probably older than some of our players were, when they started their WT journey ;)

It somehow managed to run at a stable 30 fps on my old pc from back in 2020 when I had no GPU and a 4th gen mobile i5-4460T. Mind you basically no other game even opened on that pc, the optimisation is impressive.

I dunno, it looks kinda rough and grainy, both the demos, I saw on youtube, and these screenshots look like it too. So the picture looks messy, which isn’t worth it in a game where clear picture and visibility is king.

I am more interested in those weather updates coming in the next update.

My RTX 5080 is about to bring the heat! 🔥

It’s impressive how Gaijin is always quick to adopt new graphics tech.
WT’s vehicles and machinery suit photorealism, making it a promising fit for neural rendering.

Very cool but 90% of the sweats here are playing with graphics reduced for a gaming edge.
The rest of us just die while the game looks pretty

Its honestly amazing what poor hardware the game still runs on considering its massive expansion since it was not much more than an online mode rework of a ps3 game.

that being said, DLSS5 is a feature that not even that old systems (i built mine in 2021) which are still very much on the higher end cant access. DLSS 5 may have been rather easy to implement as its just a ps3 game but it seems a bit wasteful to add features that the most average PC gamer cant access as DLSS 5 isnt on the RTX 3000. Things that are inaccessible for a GT960 sure but a 3090?

Its time to turn up my 5060

It’s true that DLSS 5 is only available to systems with 5000 series cards, but I don’t think it’s a wasteful addition.

The developers that work on DLSS integration are graphics programmers, and integrating new AMD/Nvidia technologies is a large part of their job. It’s also optional for those that don’t like it.

By the way, Nvidia has published an article that goes into more detail about the War Thunder DLSS 5 integration, you can read it here:

Interesting feature I will never use on my 3070 laptop. Tho Im curious how good will it run in wt compared to other games.

4000 and 5000 if i remember right. If the AI filter is as easy as it sounds to add then it probably took as much time as a slightly more complicated vehicle fix.

considering what the majority of PCs look like it seems like something that wont bear many fruits for several years post AI bubble burst.

Current gen (and almost certainly next gen) consoles also cant use it. Its very niche no matter.

physically cant on the 3000 series as nvidea refuses to backport it (despite it being proven doable by modders)

These are not mutually exclusive though, the devs that work on fixing vehicles and the devs that work on the graphics pipeline are completely separate. A graphics programmer does not know how to configure an in-game vehicle, it’s not part of their job.

DW neither do the guys that implement the vehicles.

Ye I know about that. Tho even if it was a thing it could’ve just melted my laptop anyway.
