Nuclear Thunder!

i was wrong, just tested it against rolands, they do not fire through trees, osa will

Yeah, buk is a significant threat, at least one of them ignores terrain as well, which is annoying and needs a fix, but can be played around.

Rewording something I said earlier, I dont think AA needs to be made any stronger than it is rn, but I think they need a bit more of the non-respawning sites, and they need to close the gaps in the edges of the battlefield. Some other AA sites in the mountains and along the coast, or maybe even ships with AA in the ocean would help that imo.

oh I think I just realized what the “invisible missile bug” is
the missile diamond only appears when the missile is burning, the rolands and osa’s are running out of fuel in their missiles but gliding into people with no diamond, because they are flying at the roland/osa
not a bug just a misunderstood feature

they do shoot through trees, specially the convoy ones, i have seen doing it several times trying to kill them with the vikhr

my pov:

so, all the long range sams will loft their projectiles and come down from top, the missile will continue on that path in case the radar picks up lock again, that missile was just going to where it thought you would be when it arrives, ive been and watched people die by unguided sams because they stayed straight for too long

Decent theory, but not sure about it. Roland and Osa both burn for around ~15s, and they dont engage you until ~6/9km respectively, so they shouldnt be running out of fuel. It could be a bug, or it could be a missile from a direction you werent looking.

i saw the diamond and then thought i defeated it only to be hit, i have it recorded but it may have been another sam

Not the case here, the coastal Buk does track through the ground. I think its specifically one of the TELARs. I posted the pics above.

so im playing the frog t rn and having about as easy a time as day 1, i think the changes to sams are getting there, ill test usa next and see if the osa is still overpreforming

I really like this mode. I hope it becomes a frequently reoccurring option. I will say getting TK’d while carrying a nuke really sucked. However I won’t let that detract from the overall experience.

Providing my feedback!

With the current state of the game mode, I don’t enjoy it that much. I am after all a Sim player, and not someone that plays Air RB. Rushing to the center to get air kills in such chaos is not my cup of tea to enjoy.

The lemming train fur-ball meta: My issue here is that you’ve done all this work, but the difficulty does not match the reward when attempting to take out air defenses, or conduct any type of CAS in these conditions. So instead, players have adapted to just rush each other in order to build mission score quickly, when other tasks are way too slow or effective to pull off or within time the match operates.

This single type of gameplay defeats the purpose for the team to actually work together to suppress enemy anti-air defenses. As stated in your announcement article behind the developer choice to increase the AI for air defenses.

SPAA are way overperforming: ATGM/ARMs have a 100% hit chance when fired on first by SPAA. While SPAA units can track and shoot down these threats in real life. They are limited by the short engagement window, and the terrain constraints of these threats. But they can intercept these missiles over a few kilometers of flight time. The problem in this event is when ATGMs, and ARMs are fired up close. In real life, that gives them under 20 seconds, often leaving insufficient time for these SPAAs to track, align, and engage them before impact. But SPAA here have no problem going full Skynet to intercept them without breaking a sweat.

Speed of the munition should be a main factor here. Slow weapons like a glide/GNSS bomb makes sense, but not specific fast munitions when the impact window is very low to respond properly. They could try, but it should not be at a 100% hit chance.

S-300/HAWK spam: It makes no logical sense why these units are so aggressive and firing on players within their own friendly airspace. More so when you are taking off or landing at your airfield. It seems these battery crews are not concern about wasting away their own missile storage on futile engagements. Instead, they need to be more conservative with their supply, and only fire on actual threats within their own airspace.

OSAs: As many have mentioned. I think using them here and in the large quantity all over the map is a mistake. Sure, they help increase the difficulty, but they also impact the gameplay severely for everyone else doing any other non anti-air tasks. An example is they should not open fire when friendly air are engaging nearby enemy air. As the increase chance to hit friendly units should be a concern.

I tried this technique, and it worked — once. The problem was that I waited for the AA systems to start firing, but they didn’t even target me, even from less than 4 km away. Instead, I was being targeted from somewhere else, behind a hill where I had no chance of seeing anything, and I ended up getting shot down anyway without any score.

Actually, there is a chance it can work, but first, you need to be in a location with at most 2–4 AA systems — so no convoys nearby. Second, it’s ideal if there are no enemy players flying in that area, because their presence further increases the risk of losing your aircraft.

Swap to a different plane and swap back should fix it.

The best is to adjust flares by 1 or 2, then spawn again.

I have video proof the buk telar is aiming and firing through the ground. im guessing the same is happening with the osa

i also have video proof rolands are not.
gimmie a minute im installing davinci

had to be a youtube video because the file was too big but here is video proof that the buk telar is firing at me through the ground with no nearby radar and no line of sight, the missiles also actively track me and I’m only defeating them by being low enough.

as staunchly anti Russian bias as I am, this is very hard to defend gaijin.

Most planes destroyed in a single nuke drop for me so far.
