Thing is; with M833, it would STILL have the worst penetration in all of 10.7… just not by such a large margin.
M1’s position and relative strengths and weaknesses would not change with M833.

M1 is not suffering by any stretch of imagination and needs absolutely zero buffs coming it’s way.

Vehicles receiving historical munitions isn’t about “suffering” or needing “buffs”; particularly when said munitions don’t objectively change the performance in any way.
Rationally, tell me- what would change if it got M833?
What M833 can pen, M774 can too.
What M833 can’t pen, M774 can’t either.
It’s a difference of just a few mm. Barely enough to make a real gameplay difference 90% of the times. It would, however, make it “feel” better and more historical, since M1 used M833 for most of its service time.
Compare M774 and M833’s performance against, for example, T-80B. What makes you think this new shell should warrant M1 facing Leopard 2A7s, T-80BVMs and Strv 122APLSSB+?

Yes it is, it’s a well known fact Gaijin likes to add/remove shells from tanks alongside tweaking reload speeds for balancing reasons.
This would still buff one of the best (if not the best) 10.7 MBTs, which surely isn’t necessary.
If M1 used M774 as well I see absolutely no issues in why you’d want to make it “more” historical.
This is just a result of BR compression, which is a story of it’s own.
M1 with M833 doesn’t deserve to face 2A7s, BVMs, etc. but it surely doesn’t deserve to be left at the same BR as some other 10.7 MBTs.

A decent slight buff. I would say it necessary since it only a matter of time before M774 got fix.

Because it’s already top dog at 10.7 and some other 10.7 MBTs are objectively worse ?
So… gaining 23mm of pen is enough to warrant an uptier; but losing 50mm is not enough to warrant a downtier…?
I think you just overestimate or have some kind of grudge with M1.
T-80B may have worse gun handling and reload, but it has 457mm of pen with way higher damage and much better relative armor with similar mobility.
Leopard 2A4 may have slightly worse armor and slower reload, but it has a higher pen shell with higher damage with just about the same mobility too.
Etc.

Most if not all of the people that are vehemently against the base M1 fall into the latter.
Its the same situation with the TOW-2B being buffed as it seems like a lot of people have PTSD of the original implementation of these two pieces of equipment and choose to believe they are the exact same as they were when they first dropped.
I cant count the number of people who still tell me with a straight face that the TOW-2B is enough to uptier a TOW vehicle in this day and age because they think it somehow preforms like it did when the M3A3 first arrived.

At the same time Slight buff also wouldn’t hurt either. Seeing that it won’t break any balance.
Not to mention up-tier match. M1 Abrams would only be top dog when it got down tier or when max BR in the match was 10.7

It’s not as black and white as you might think. Obviously vehicles can be bad/decent/good at their respective BRs, so buffing something that’s already good might push it over the “edge”. If you nerf something that’s already good it might stop being good and transition into the decent category, but still remaining the same BR.
Nope I actually liked playing M1s but I’m just stating my opinion here.
Even with a better shell you’ll still have to aim for crew/ammo/gun in order to disable your enemy with the first shot. I still remember people crying about Object 292 and it’s 695mm round being OP, only until they learned you can penetrate your enemy, kill a single crew member and still get killed in return.
Absolutely no reason to buff a top dog. It’s just a slap in the face to not so fortunate contemporaries that should get some help themselves.
That’s like giving some more money to a millionaire, all the while you ignore poor people in need lol. Do you have any empathy at all ?
You are allowed to struggle in an up-tier, you are playing against objectively better vehicles.

Correct, my analogy perfectly describes this.
No one in their right mind should give a buff to the top dog only, that’s an outright hilarious thing to do.
M833 is better than M774.
It has more pen and more weight which affects spalling, so I hope you know what that means.
It would make them easier to kill for M1 drivers, aka strong vehicle getting even stronger. Also, giving it M833 would be a pretty insensible thing to do in the eyes of people that have to deal with worse vehicles, or those that use rational thinking.

Nothing will be gained from M833 so why even bother doing anything in the first place. That was a nice way to completely shut down the thread, good job buddy.
More like overexaggerated. People with right mind understand that this is a slight buff that doesn’t mess with balance. So they’re more or less “fine” or “whatever” with M833 being add.

Adding M833 won’t be insensible since M774 should get fix. And M833 won’t break the balance in anyway with slight buff. Any player with actual logical and rational thinking acknowledge this.
