some people would sufffer and complain

Probably the same reason we don’t have it in RB: muh queue times.

Most importantly, it will affect queue times.
Secondly, this is just a video game unrelated to history or real-world equipment data, so the only purpose of such an opponent-selection feature would be to be abused for stat padding.

the principle is the same of using other nations (JPN/FR/ITA etc) to fill out team slots

There’s no need to queue precisely because the feature you’re asking for hasn’t been added. Do you know that not long ago, because so many people wanted to play the BMPT, Soviet tech tree players had matchmaking times of up to an hour?

He’s making a comparison. When the matchmaker isn’t diverse enough, queue times take forever

In fact, team assignment by nation does exist in air battles. The reason air battles can start very quickly is that nation-based matchmaking is not prioritized. If the player population is large enough—for example, after an update when many players in the Chinese tech tree are using the J-10C to grind the newly added J-15T—you will very likely encounter a team made up entirely of Chinese tech tree J-10C players. This matchmaking logic simply isn’t prioritized.

At present, there are significant differences in missile performance in air battles. If equipment with completely different design philosophies ends up facing each other in the same match, it can lead to very obvious balance issues, and Gaijin would receive a lot of complaints. So having aircraft with different designs and performance characteristics placed on the same team to cover each other’s weaknesses is actually a relatively effective way to maintain balance.
Does anyone want to use an outdated U.S. air lineup to fight against a lineup of Dassault Rafale and MICA missile?
If everyone goes to play the strongest equipment, it will lead to the same outcome as with the BMPT. So if this matchmaking logic is prioritized, it will result in excessively long queue times.
