NGL i think HMS Barham needs a better shell if its going to stay at 7.3

The 15in APC Shell is just a bit underwhelming as is.

Especially since it now has to fight much tougher targets.

The fuse timings and fuse sensitivity of this very early AP round makes it very hard to hurt most battleships unless you are Close enough to be hitting their main belt relatively flat, Otherwise the shells either just non pen, or explode before they can do meaningful damage to internal components.

This isn’t a Problem ive had with my Renown, As it gets the later pattern 15in AP rounds, which are a bit better when it comes to plunging fire.

You could easily give it a early pattern APCBC round, or something similar that wouldn’t hurt the fact its meant to be a very early in life QE Class.

As is she is modeled in her post WW1 configuration anyway, she didn’t receive the 76mm secondaries until post war

Given Warspite is near identical at 7.7. 7.3 is doing well

Warspite gets WW2 Era AP with Proper Fuses and Ballistic Caps to help its angled pen and overall ballistics.

Plus Warspite has a reinforced armor profile over Barham, She got heavily upgraded in the 1930s.

Barham basically has Contact fuse AP, that doesn’t go far into ship before its charge goes off, meaning its basically useless at plunging fire.

Warspite is a completely different beast to how She left the slipways in 1916, Barham is modeled as Built.

Meaning it struggles at 7.3 IMO. It can barely stand up to the WW2 Era Upgraded battlecruisers due to its poor AP performance.

I’ve never really had issue with Barhams APC, especially given the relative BR.

Renown-Class at 7.0 with 6x 15"

Barham at 7.3 with WW1 rounds

Warspite at 7.7 with WW2 rounds

I dont think Barham is all too bad at the moment and given the BS nature of trying to play 7.7+ at the moment. Its better than any of our 7.7+

Oh yeah its such a GREAT round… its not like it can’t do shit against anything above 7.0.

Legit all it does when you fight anything that isn’t ww1 era, is shatter on impact.

Only things Ive had issue with in Barham were the 8.0+ ships, which isnt really that unexpected

posts a picture of him firing at Soyuz, a battleship notorious for its bow armor.

Nice bait.

It was literally Flat broadside to me, at sub 10km. and i couldn’t even scratch it.

Again, notoriously fat armor belt.

Bismarck can’t penetrate it at 7km.

Soyuz could stand to lose about 40 to 50mm of armor thickness and it’d still be ridiculously durable

Soyuz should have its armor HALVED.

its a fake ship as is.

Wait, the ship you were struggling against was the Soyuz?

Yeah, no wonder you were having issues. I can barely scratch that things paint in Vanguard.

and Barham is actually a 7.3 for a good reason, shouldnt even be able to see a Soyuz

But Soyuz =/= everything above 7.0. Its very much the exception (and most my play time in Barham comes from before Soyuz destroyed top tier, I consistantly had good matches, even against the “strong” battleships of the time like Amagi)

I can’t believe people still try and defend that thing being in the game, While the British can’t get the Lion class.

Or even the “Monarchs” aka the early design KGVs.

Id take one of them over a KGV or Vanguard. Those 9 BL-MK2/381 mm/45 Mk.VII 15inchers would be absolutely DEVASTATING in game.

Imagine firing the Warspite’s late AP shells at over 1000M/s.

Mutsu is the pain in the ass to crack.

Amagi is when you know your opponents won’t fire back.

Edit

It will be added in time. The problem is when.

Half is a bit much. If the plates were hit by even 10 to 15%, it might be fine. I’d have to math out how much armor it’d actually lose though.

Difficult yeah, but not Soyuz difficult

Only thing that rivaled Soyuz in ridiculousness is Pre Leviathans Scharnhorst.

Scharnhorst got “fixed” way earlier than that. When they added the turret lift fire mechanic. As soon as that was added, they were basically free kills, started farming them like mad.

Cant recall when that was, but about 6 or so months before.

Though I do agree it was stupid before then, though at least Scharnhorst didnt have the most powerful guns in-game in addition to its survivability

That was Leviathans as that was the patch that added fire capable of being started anywhere in the elevators instead of starting at the top.
