NF-5A - The Dutch variant of the Canadair Freedom Fighter

Im gonna just say this, it wouldn’t matter. Gaijin would model it as a basic F-5 like they did with the F-5A(G) because they couldn’t be bothered to try. You put too much faith in gaijin, still if correctly added would be cool to see.

This expostition photo shows a LAU-3A rocket pod.

This video also shows the use of the centre mounted rocket pod.

I’ll add this munition later to the suggestion.

New NF-5A Pre-order!

Update from the dev stream

I’ll wait for the dev server to see if any ordinance is missing. (And if they add the correct cockpit.)

For those interested, a couple more bug reports on the NF-5A on the dev server, much thanks for @Sander2006 for their contribution:

I will buy it for the Canadair skin

That’s fair, I hope we’ll also see a dedicated Canadian Canadair CF-116A, especially as the Canadian one can carry some unique ordinance, such as the matra rocket pods for the SNEBs and the LAU-10 pods with the 4x Zuni’s.

The only problem being the lack of countermeasures.

The skin is amazing IRL, I hope the in-game one will do it justice!

Another interesting video of the NF-5A in-service:

As the forum post on the dev-server page will soon disappear, here’s a copy of the latest changes:

Spoiler

NF-5A

The NF-5A will be coming to War Thunder in the upcoming major patch “Leviathans” as a pre-order premium pack vehicle. This Discussion is an attempt at consolidating all known bug reports on this specific vehicle to see what should and shouldn’t be on the final in-game vehicle.

Whats the difference between these engines and the normal f5a engines

Thrust. The General Electric J-85-CAN-15 engines on the NF-5A in-game provide far more thrust at 1650 kgf each compared to the J-85-GE-13 engines on the F-5A, which provide 1430 kgf thrust each. (according to how they are implemented in WT, Gaijin takes away a percentage from the values stated in both of their manuals equally)

Well, I guess we’ve lucked out this time, the NF-5A is basically more than 90% correct, with only some small cockpit things (that weren’t on all NF-5A, so them not having it could just be the artists impression), the addition of munitions it could use but wich the Netherlands never had (although Gaijin doesn’t look at stockpile, only if it can use it and it’s included in the manual, so again: the artists impression). The only 2 major ones are the fact that the landing gear doors don’t close when the gear is deployed and a mistake in the angles of the landing flaps.

i pre ordered it 😔

I have a question, I’m on console so I can’t pre order.

If I buy the pack when it’s out for us, I get the pre order skin?

this looking to be the best f-5 other than f-20 in terms of flight performacne - f-5a air frame with stronger engines, yes please
