I don’t know F-101A & F-101C located after F-100D on rank VI or before F-4C to early rank VII

its barely visible, is there any more images of it?

it’s the new airborne APC, covered thing should be RCWS, and there is a IFV version too, which seem has no APS(weight/space limit? or maybe electricity supply). Left one with muzzle outside should be airborne 120mm mortar-howitzer

possibly ZBD-05 with HJ-20/50 ATGM?
EDIT: a Chinese military commentator says that it’s not a ATGM vehicle. maybe it‘s an assault breacher vehicle

Aren’t these the new IFV variant with remote turrets instead of manned?

no, it’s too small for remote controlled turret

they also had an interim variant, which they didn’t induct

it’s a prototype, probably suspended for being too heavy and imperfect.
that time, there isn’t enough IL-76 and Y-20 to run such a big IFV.

LAV-AT with camo netting please.

blessed snail plz bestow upon me this cute lil guy this next major update.

Finnish MiG-21Bis MGBT recon variant.

Back in the day, Finland acquired MiG-21s from the Soviet Union and as time went on, Finland needed more fighters to add, to the already used MiG-21F-13 fleet. USSR offered Finland some choices, mainly the MiG-23MS, Su-20 and MiG-21Bis.

However MiG-23MS was deemed too heavy and too expensive for the needs of the Finnish Airforce, Su-20 was deemed to not suit the role of a fighter aircraft. So in the end MiG-21Bis was chosen, somewhat funnily the MiG-23MS was a downgraded variant of MiG-23M intended for third world nations who could not be trusted with technology of MiG-23MF, so basically every non warsaw pact nation, but still Soviet Union deemed Finland to be trustworthy enough to give their top of the line MiG-21 fighters (one of the absolute best aircraft at its time) back when Finland was looking for something to replace early cold war jets.

So in the end Finland went with MiG-21Bis which in any case was probably to best option to choose even if MF was offered, but with the F-13 fleet aging and them being the aircraft of choice for Finnish aerial recon, it was chosen that MiG-21Bis will be the basis of a new recon variant. With many Bis fighters of Finnish Airforce undergoing cockpit modernization i.e. western avionics,
the MGBT modification was however done to 6 aircraft.

Positives (compared to MiG-21Bis standard)

  • Selenia RWR with much wider coverage than standard Bis.
  • Selenia SL/ALQ-234 jammer pod (centerline)
  • Philips 9CM120X chaff dispencer pod (centerline)
  • Western avionics

Negatives (compared to MiG-21Bis standard)

  • Removed radar
  • No R-3R

New RWR were mounted on wingtips, bottom of fuselage, top of fuselage and top end of the tail rudder.

there are probably the better options, the 76mm isnt great, but at the same time they kinda loose some of the cuteness of the base models yk?

plus these options couldn’t come and plug the low tier DE light tank famine. West Germany used the saladin fairly extensively, the 2nd Largest foreign operator of the type.
