Agreed, there’s in excess of 200 ordered/received. Idk the exact numbers. There’s a plan to modify the ACV-30’s with anti-drone systems, what that entails is unknown right now.
Maybe a modified IF-LK to target drones amongst other munitions?

Seriously? A little while back on some thread I was talking about possible drone defences for Marines and anti drone on stuff like LAV-25 came up. I guess they are doing it with the much larger ACV-30, nice
Yeah I hope rather than just EW it’s a hard-kill APS. Best I can think of is IF-LK unless Raytheon, BAE, or someone else has something similar developed. Raytheon Quick Kill APS take 2 lol.

Honestly looks like it has some pretty thick composite/NERA on the sides. Doubtful its ERA considering the USMC isn’t a fan of ERA.
yeah i have, I was lucky too since it was next to an LAV-AT. you are right, it is huge. makes the LAV look small. its a pretty neat vehicle on the inside too. i wasnt paying too much attention to the armor but I do recall the door being pretty chunky

Anyways nice man! Yeah, that’s a pretty large door and quite a bit of armor all over the thing. Honestly, I hope they slap an MTAS turret on the ACV-platform as well. Dedicated ACV-ATM that could fire TOW-2’s and the Coyote Block 3 drones would be sick.

They should just add Javelin’s to the modified MCT-30 turret they’re using already honestly. Idk why they decided to not keep them. I thought we would be past the 30mm-only phase lol

On a side note, does anyone know if Sweden or Finland plan to procure any form of modern attack helicopter? The only thing I can see for the tree for a quasi-attack helicopter is the MH-60R’s from the Danish or Norwegian militaries. Honestly, idk if they specifically utilize the AGM-114R/K Hellfire missile with them or not. The MH-60R can equip said missiles so it could be utilized as a balance option as needed.

It’s time for the Spyder AiO. I’m getting pretty pissed off of the lack of effective AA for the Israeli Tree. There’s nothing that the tree has that can stop top-ranked enemy aircraft or intercept incoming missiles other than lucky interceptions using the Machbet or M48 Improved Chaparral. The SPYDER AiO along with other short-range SPYDER systems have seen actual service with the Israeli military since October of 2023.

- Implementation:
- If the vehicle were to be added, there’s no other option other than BR 12.0. This system would require a deployment animation similar to the Bradley having to deploy its TOW launcher. Once deployed, the system would vertically fire its Python 5’s similarly to the HQ-17/Tor-M1 fire’s its missiles. One thing to note though is the superior maneuverability of the Python 5 will allow it to snap to targets with ease which include, drones, missiles, glide bombs, aircraft, helicopters, and more.
- Test firing of the SPYDER AiO, an effective short-range SAM that utilizes Python 5 interceptors.

Machbet/Hovet Reintroduction
On a side note, there may be reintroduction into service the M163 Hovet or Machbet as a means to engage drones. Personal speculation but if they reintroduce the two anti-air platforms, possible upgrades could include improved EO/IR sighting systems/enhanced thermal imagers, possible inclusion of CQB RADAR’s like the Leonardo MHR, and maybe even new types of munitions like APDS-T to engage them further out. They could possibly replace the Stinger with another type of missile or EW weapon. These two systems have been out of service since the early 2000’s.

Let’s get the earlier versions of the SPYDER series first FOR THE Israeli tree. This is the latest and most modern of the SPYDER series, and the one with capabilities dwarfing that of existing SPAA systems, it logically can’t be added with its full potential.
The first and earlier of the SPYDER-Short Range variant would be the logical first addition to the Israeli tree, with the later SR and other variants such as the MR/ER/LR coming in later, and the All In One as the final addition to finish off the line.
Wonderful brand new suggestion here for it by my friend @Surbaissemaxxing which goes into detail on it and how an earlier variant limited to the regular Derby and Python 4 could be added before SPYDER systems with the I-Derby derivatives and the Python 5.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the SPYDER-SR too as it’s a pretty awesome little vehicle that should be added soon as well (maybe an early and late variant as seen in the suggestion), but I personally want a system with an effective RADAR as an immediate solution vice another EO/IR system. The only RADAR system we have is of the ZSU-23-4V. Not having a top-RADAR equipped vehicle puts the tree at a disadvantage against other nations.
Another solution would be a sub-tree vehicle of sort that has an integrated RADAR, missiles, and even maybe a gun but idk what nation we could get. Türkiye and Chile get thrown in as options a lot. Chile doesn’t have an AIO vehicle but options for Türkiye could be HİSAR-O+, GÜRZ SHORAD, etc. Not advocating for the two nations, just listing options.

The suggested SPYDER does have its own small radar, take a look at the suggestion and you’ll see it :P
(And there’s always the HSVD/ADAMs as well)
No, I did see the EL/M-2106 NG RADAR but I don’t think it’s integrated. It looks like it’s set up off to the side.
- Circled it in the bottom image. It should be an EO/IR only with integration with the independently set up EL/M-2106 NG RADAR or the dedicated SPYDER RADAR vehicle.
- Now what WOULD BE COOL, seeing how portable it is, they should allow the EL/M-2106 NG RADAR to be set up like how we set up ammo boxes. Would be an awesome function and unique to the SPYDER-SR. I’m going to make a note of this on the post lol.
