Yes, it can receive information from the carrier, and even other aircrafts around, be it radar or IRST, or any other mean of detection (RWR).
For example there has been a successful test of a rafale shooting down a drone being him while using the radar from another plane further back.
Its likely nothing relevant to the previous aspide, however, i heard they were developed by the same team. Its difference to the PL-11 is like R-27R vs R-27ET(this one is ir guided).

it‘s a smaller 30mm, like us m230, used to defend drones or missiles, it has small radar, and ahead(see the muzzle coil), a APS for slow target
