Given that the R-77 is now better in a straight line than the AIM-120A, I have my doubts about the AIM-120A still being better than the R-77-1 with maneuvering targets given that the R-77-1 also features even more powerful motor than the R-77.
Personally, this is why I look forward to the F-35 more than the F-22. To start out, we will most likely be getting the initial versions of both. This means, with the F-35 being a later aircraft, it will have better avionics (the F-22 will at least get an AESA radar though). The F-22 in it’s earlier variants also had absolutely NO ground attack capability, it was PURELY air dominance, like the F-16A Block 15 ADF. So it couldn’t even carry dumb bombs. But the F-35 was built from the start to be multi-role, so it will be much more useful for NE.
In order for the F-35 to have a place in the game, they’d have to actually model sensor fusion and model actual sensors in-game, otherwise it’s just a worse plane than even the F-22.
Yeah, for the US at least, the only “more modern” ARM we could get is the AGM-88J SiAW, which for all intents and purposes (for what’s relevant to the game at least), it’s just a copy of the AGM-88G that the Air Force is making to integrate with their planes.
Nothing wrong with the F-22
Not saying it’s bad, just that the F-35’s advantages over the F-22 wouldn’t be in the game unless they did an overhaul to the current mechanics and added a lot more.
IIR ATGMs in game don’t actually target center mass. They would be much more reliable if they did. Instead, they just target random modules which leads to them often just hitting tracks, barrels, optics, roof MGs, engine bays, etc. and leaving them with a 15 second repair instead of actually killing them.
It always was like that in raw charts but the moment it has to turn R-77 starts heavily bleeding speed.
I think you’re confusing it with R-77-1. The R-77-1 had better time-to-target with non-maneuvering targets while bleeding speed with maneuvering targets.
But the AIM-120A always had better time-to-target than the R-77 with non-maneuvering targets. It’s just now the R-77 has better time-to-target than AIM-120A. The switch happened.
People always forget the aura factor. F-22 mogs the hell out of the F-35. Any advantage in technical capability is overshadowed by the fact the Raptor is beautiful to the point of art.
No news today means update tomorrow

The most boring basic jet after the F-16 :p
If you ask me this is fairly ridiculous…
Only called basic due to the popularity it earned
F22 is literally the only 5th gen+ (so including 6th gen) fighter that I don’t find ugly
tbh I think the F22 is kinda boring, the F35 has a more defined shape instead of just smooth edges.
overall I think all 5th gens are boring to look at and 4.5gen is where its at
They all lowkey look ass
at least 5th gens kinda looked different 6th gens almost all look the same and are so boring
Yeah, 5th gens are still somewhat good looking, but nowhere as close as 4/4.5 gens in general.
6th gens are just flat, ugly pancaked jets.
I think it also comes with all 5th and 6th gens are some form of black or grey and its just boring to look at
