Had to sacrifice it for new mbts
Mk.51As were 7 new planes built in 1993 with reinforced Mk.60 type wings - they have additional wing fences along the leading edge. The original 51As have serials HW-351 to HW-357.
Finland’s Hawks were fitted out to use 4 pylons for the CAS role since delivery, even though most of the Mk.51s flew with 2 pylons in a Weapon Trainer role (like the UK’s T.1/T.1A). 51As ended up having 4 pylons more commonly than 51s
Mk.51 HW-337 in 1988
Photo is of the original BAE cockpit in a Mk.51 - taken a couple of years before Patria delivered the first upgraded plane
The upgraded Patria cockpit is different
The J-10C was also spotted with this helmet.
I hope they fix Arjun’s ready rack! As it is right now, its survivability is extremely nerfed.
Also hope they reconsider and give EMBTs DM53.
And hope they folder the French Leopard 2A5 and 2A6 the same way these are foldered in the German tree.
Without those changes, the only MBT to truly look forward to will be Leopard 2HEL.
That’s a pretty noticeable difference
the EMBT is a side grade/slight upgrade to the leclerc ive always said as such, when compared to the 2A7 then yeah its a down grade, it was only ever gonna be a side grade if it kept the 5 second reload and got DM53
and the reason I say the Arjun is rough because the turret armour is kinda just bad on top of the hull armour, I guess im saying that in the context of the Challenger 1s that have pretty good turret armour and a better round but far worse mobility
kinda sad cus I might have actually picked up the Duke of York
yeah, i might have underplay it a bit
Arjun will be a Leopard 2A4, except with MUCH better turret and mantlet armor, as well as firepower and thermals, in exchange for worse mobility and lack of blowout panels.
EMBT will be fine, but nothing more than a sidegrade at best, as long as it keeps O*L F1 as best shell. A shell whose’s presence in 12.7 is simply embarrassing.
It IS an upgrade for the French, as it’s basically a Leclerc with proper armor, but it’s barely a sidegrade to 2A7V for Germany. You get better reload in exchange for a terrible turret and terrible shell.
Besides do you have image with them using 4 pylons I’m either blind or just have never seen them with more than 2 of them in use with the FAF.
I’ve been trying to find their 12.7mm gunpod as well, so far only mentions of it

there is actually a tank similar to the Arjun that trade mobility for firepower and better turret armor at 10.7 (except with same 1gen thermal but DM33 pen)
if you actualy look at it its the other way around
with the initial argument being a comparison showing AMBER as more functional than options in game
before they moved to goal posts to AMBER being functional
tbf it isnt the worst round at top tier there is L27A1 with 10mm less pen, there is 3BM60 with 4mm more pen and DTC10 with 1 mm more pen like OFL F1 isnt great but its pretty inline with the lower end shells
Well, Ariete’s turret cheeks are 400mm KE, while Arjun’s turret cheeks are 500-600mm KE.
You can do pretty good hull down in Arjun, while Ariete… far from it xD
Even Arjun’s mantlet is better than Ariete’s cheeks (up to 488mm KE)
Except for the bugged ready rack (REALLY hope they fix it, if they don’t, it will kill the tank entirely), I’m looking forward to Arjun more than OFL F1 EMBT, hahah.
Tried linking a photo before but seems https://www.aviationphotocompany.com makes linking to specific photos a pain in the arse
Was trying to show you this one (1988, in the original FAF livery)

Mk.51s in 1993

w/r/t Mod.999 wings, the RAF replaced most of our T.1/T.1A fleet with 999 wings in the 1990s, just without the additional fences. The tailplane replacement was also applied - called Mod.1830
It had the same reload as the 2A4 with a round identical to 3BM42. The 2A4’s only advantage is having 2 more rounds in it’s ready rack.
Unless they changed it with todays or yesterdays update.
It’s survivability will be mediocre anyway.
It’s a straight downgrade compared to the Leclerc lmao.
remember there is pretty weak composite behind the gunner sights, weak enough that M111 from a 105 can pen it so that is just another weakspot
So is there any real argument to suggest the dual pylon bomb racks then with the FAF Hawks in suggestion to the devs for the T.1?
