That’s a T-50i, the Indonesian variant of the Korean T-50 trainer aircraft. While they are initially just a T-50 variant, they were later equipped with cannon and radar like TA/FA-50 variants.
Indonesia is buying the M-346FI, but this hasn’t been built yet. It’d also not be C&P, since it won’t just be will be a unique variant made in cooperation with Indonesian PT E-Systems. Known additions to the standard M-346F Block 20 are IRIS-T and MK-V Delta / LCCM Mk.2 integration.
This is the only thing I’ll bother to say about, as I don’t like discussing specific people on a forum when they’re not present, and it’s off-topic anyway.
But I had a pretty lengthy argument with him months ago where the main point was basically that Benelux, and subtrees in general, are inherently less important than main trees. According to his reasoning, a subtree vehicle shouldn’t be added if it’s A) not unique, B) too similar to an existing vehicle in the tree, or C) doesn’t fill a pressing gap in the tech tree.
This would mean subtrees have to jump through so many hoops to justify each addition that something like 90% of Benelux’s unique vehicles would never make it into the game simply because Benelux was made a subtree rather than a main tree. Meanwhile, the only real requirement he gave for a vehicle from a main tree seemed to be whether that country actually operated it.
I just looked through some of those. While there is valid points made there, it seems most people there only consider the French side, not BeNeLux. It’s seen mostly as addition to the French tree that doesn’t deserve anything beyond the value it brings to the French side.
This way of seeing it makes it not multiple nations cooperating for mutual benefit, it’s just one side giving too much without receiving enough. And due to the way Gaijin implemented subtrees, it still feels that way from the other perspective too.
So now there is significant player conflict of interest that from every angle seems to be “my nation against your nation”, when in reality this is a very avoidable issue that can be solved with better subtree implementation.
This is the main reason I laugh at purist they don’t want sub trees fine but where are you going to place them then and the common answer always boils down to “Just don’t add them as I don’t care just don’t want MY nation to be filled with them” aka they just want the game to be US vs Russia.
Yeah, those were pretty much the same conclusions I came to in my discussion, especially considering how many holes the vehicles have to go through when using subtrees.
While at first some of the subtrees made sense and were mutually beneficial, we’ve reached a point where subtrees are being added to provide representation of other nations, not necessarily to improve the host tree.
That’s fine in a vacuum, but between how Gaijin has structured grinding and the limited amount of additions this year, subtree additions for many trees end up having an assumed opportunity cost.
I’ve seen a suggestion for a selectable set of subtrees that vary by nations that would be a great way of addressing both issues, and hopefully Gaijin recognizes how much of an issue this is and works to address it in a serious way
Yeah, I think that would have been more beneficial for both parties, especially since France did see a drop in domestic content after the Benelux was added. Personally, I’m completely fine with the Benelux being added elsewhere on its own or as a Nation folder or into a more compatible tree; I just want it to remain together as a single unit with semi regular additions.
