Next Major Update - Rumor Roundup & Discussion

I’ll try to use gmti mode on AESA to track moving targets as like a SARH version of Brimstones. I think I can get further lock-ons that way vs the IRST lock on the pod itself.

Which wouldn’t be relevant in NE, no? I’m just talking about introducing them to NE here.

I’m very excited to see that Gaijin showed submarines in the update teaser (even though they still used the Type VII model that has already appeared multiple times). I have reason to believe that WT and WTM share the same model source, which means we can infer from the submarines available in WTM which submarines are likely to appear in the next major update.

What I’m more curious about is whether WT will introduce more modern torpedo mechanics, such as wire-guided or acoustic homing torpedoes, to improve submarine combat efficiency?

For NE, probably not.

Oh, another drawback of IR/TV is clouds. I haven’t touched NE in a while so I don’t know if theres low enough clouds for it to make a real difference though.

By the way I’m not sitting here to say “mmW shouldn’t be added cause of these small drawbacks”, just showing that it’d require a bit more work than “just make it work like the GCS-1”.

If Cluster Munitions truly are restricted to just Air battles (and not just NE), then I’m all for mmW to be introduced at first for just Air battles while a more universal counter for ground vehicles is being developed. I’d love to see Hellfire-Ls, as that’d also help Sweden!

Eh, depends on the lobby, they’re usually sporadic and high enough that they don’t really matter.

For sure

Gaijin is waiting way too long to introduce CIWS vehicles

They could have added stuff like the HVSD/ADAMS and Skyrangers a long time ago and they would have fixed soooo many problems that stem from CAS dominance

Somewhat works but the radar track isn’t that accurate so it’s best to fire around 4? Also, you have to be careful about how you maneuver as the targeting pod doesn’t have the same gimbal limits as the radar and so you can easily break the track.

No because that’d put NATO AD on par with RU. Jk lol.

Honestly, I think this could actually be a good thing.

I mean, Indonesia is reportedly gonna receive a few aircraft over the next couple of months, like the J-10CE, so there’s a pretty good chance spotters will get some pics of it. And honestly, that should be enough for Gaijin to consider adding it to WT, as long as the Chinese playerbase doesn’t make a fuss about it 💀

Also, if I’m not mistaken, Indonesia is supposedly leasing a few MiG-29S (9.13s?), which they’re rumored to receive sometime soon.

So yeah, there’s definitely a bright side to this, especially considering how short the gap between the November and December major updates is.

I meant more like multi-spectral smoke. CIWS Vehicles are cool but I don’t see most people playing whats essentially a gun-only AA at top tier thats only shtick is intercepting munitions, UCAV and helicopters (and maybe the occasional actual close air support). I’d love to play it and love to see it, but I don’t see it as a full or true universal counter to mmW weapons. Not everyone will own one, not everyone will have the crew to have a missile AA AND CIWS, not everyone will want to play one and one won’t always be up.

iirc they signed a letter of intent but they haven’t really pushed further than that. The M-346F letter of intent was around the same time and that deal has progressed since. @NFrost51 would be the best person to answer this though ^^

Do the Battlefield method and have AI controlled CWIS at each spawn and widen up the maps so we’re not playing a hop, skip, and jump away from each other…

AI-controlled CIWS is a nice idea but the maps would have to be much bigger than they are now.

Yes but I’d say bigger maps are needed first actually. There’s too many contradictions in GRB because they are not optimized for modern warfare.

CIWS are the best actual counter to the kind of CAS top tier has to deal with now.
Multispectral smokes would help about as much as regular smokes help currently: Barely at all.

Having to deploy smokes reveals your position and potentially ends up hindering your and your teammates ability to deal with enemy tanks. It’s pretty much a doubled edged sword.

CAS really never should have gotten to this point, as most NATO SAMs can’t deal with the planes that deliver the weapons and they don’t have enough missiles to intercept the huge load of missiles and bombs that get spammed…

About not everyone having access to one, we have the “free” vehicles now, a CIWS vehicle could be part of the selection that is available to everyone.

People not caring enough to play them is a seperate issue, but at least they would have the option to defend their team, if they actually cared about getting nuked by CAS :)

Maybe give top tier SAMs an additional CIWS to drop down as well, but we are getting to the point where you might as well let people control stationary AA that’s not located on tank playfield lol

If the rumors are true, this could actually be pretty interesting, since these MiG-29S/UBs would get avionics upgrades like an AESA radar, a better EW suite, and an IRST.

That would definitely make them a pretty unique MiG-29 variant thanks to those upgrades.

I agree with all of these points, except for the fact this isn’t a “universal counter” if you get what I mean. If I’m an MBT and I know I get targeted by IR/TV, then I can just smoke. If I get targeted by mmW, well, there’s nothing I can do. I can Air Alert or my teammates can, I’ve avoided many IR/TV guided munitions like this.

“hey this is cool, lets do it” mentality. If the US passed the approval of the F-15IDN (F-15EX for Indonesia) a few months earlier, I bet we’d see that too.

Dunno what to say tho. At the first time i was also suprised after looks at their Air force inventory.

It seems I’ve also started getting used to this.
