Would be good to also let us fire SLAM-ER and other LOAL weapons that use IR terminal homing with their GNSS modes too. That way we could actually use their ranges properly.
Could either let us fire them with the map points for quick firing or increase the TGP ranges for more accuracy point designating.
Expect to find me in this thread more often begging for mmW guidance. Closed mouths don’t get fed. I already have a 12 Brimstone + 8 SPICE 250 SHORAD SEAD/CAS loadout ready to go. I need revenge on those damn Itos.
I just realised it did, Indonesia is going to be receiving the Avia B-33 which we modified and then they bought from us, everything is slowly coming together now
I don’t understand why Gaijin even mentioned it in the CM update if they didn’t have any expectation that calls for mmW brimstones to increase. Hopefully they’ll get the idea soon, especially since they’re completely out of reasonable excuses now - we’ve got LOAL munitions and now we’ve got munitions banned from ground battles. No brainer, really.
We already have had that ‘logic’ for ages on all TV/IR weapons, if you lock a point on the ground and a target passes through it when the weapon gets into track range it will switch tracking to the target. I guess for the GCS you wont be able to ‘look through’ the seeker and the point of drop will just be the ground lock
They could have just used the IR locking mechanism for mmW weapons and called it wip like they did with man-in-the-loop where they just gave them Maverick seekers and called it a day (then years later added the mechanic)…
How is that same as the GCS bomb’s guidance or mmW guidance? With mmW or GCS’s LOAL IR guidance you cant pick the target manually, you dont know where your bomb/missile will go.
Yeah but the IOG creates a “kill box” area where the missile will lock onto whatever is in there when it gets to tracking range, the same way locking the ground in a TV/IR missile outside tracking range creates a small area where the missile locks whatever is in there when it gets to track range, but the mmW has a much wider scan area and you don’t need to have line of sight because of IOG.
Or you can just fly low, use the map to mark the spotted convoy and launch without needing to risk popping up and lasing (you technically should be able to do with this already with things like the Kh-38MT but you cant fire them purely on GNSS or IOG for some reason)
