Gaijoob when 40 long lances :(
It was already extremely annoying to face due to its inconsistent damage-model (especially against APFSDS at the BR-Range), but now with the reload-buff, it should most definitely go up…
Before this it was mostly just mid or mediocre at everything beside it’s armor.
Now with the 6 second reload I think it might need to move up to 10.7. The only problem is, that leaves the T-80UD/BE.
Well I suppose youre playing a different game to the rest of us then because unless you kill crew the BMPT is near impossible to kill, its ammo almost never detonates and good luck killing the crew in one shot consistently
And imo the Russian MBTs are by far the most annoying in game purely because theyre the only tanks I cant just look at and kill without aiming at a pinpoint frame thats 50/50 of actually working or getting hit by volumetreic and hitting that one spot of 1000mm of armor
And this alone makes them extremely powerful
Not to mention the carousel eating rounds that normally would detonate ammo, and the ammo being another 50/50 of actually killing the tank
Yep 100% agree. Everyone needs to be given equal ERA, whether that means nerfing soviet ERA to the point where it does nothing 90% of the time like on NATO tanks or buffing NATO ERA up to soviet levels.
This double standard of ignoring NATO Reports regarding ERA (like the dozen for OES/TES for example) whilst leaving soviet ERA capable of stopping Tandem warheads (actually report in for this from 8 months ago) is just frustrating.
“Nato ERA is capable of stopping up to 30mm cannon rounds”
Gaijin: "Ah so 30mm of kinetic armor yes? "
lmao this has always made me laugh
Yeah…
Or
Primary source:
Challenger 2 has STANAG level 5 protection
Gaijin:
Because STANAG rating means different things form vehicle to vehicle apparently
I love how Gaijin saw the oplot and was like, “Yo this ain’t going to the russian TT? Yeah. Ok nerf the ERA and don’t even extend the ERA to the engine, just like halfway. Oh and use like the sniper configuration for the vertical transverse. Don’t give it the same as the other russian tanks. Peace out.”
But its funny it actually got modeled fairly decently numbers wise afaik, which I was fully NOT expecting
Though I am sure its missing a decent bit of protection
Armor is a balancing factor, its why gaijin pushs armor as a suggestion as stated by Smin when we asked about the MK.IV missing its Stanag level 5 or 6 armor compared to in game where any 20mm AP from WW2 can go through the turret while still weighing 38t
Yeah… its pretty clear that:
Simply was an untrue statement.
Armor on the CV90 MKIV is incorrect // Gaijin.net // Issues Community Bug Reporting System
Standard gaijin response when they dont wanna add historical features since they want it to be a fictional way that fits their view of the vehicle
At this point I wouldnt be suprised if some fictional vehicles are more realistic then vehicles that exist that can be reported on. (Not including those Russian Magic Fantasy ships that piss me off to the ends of the Earth)
Afaik ERA only exists for the frontal half of the side skirts to protect the crew and autoloader from these 45* hits. Engine compartment is only covered by spaced armor. Oplot is indeed lacking some ERA but it should only be extended for this section which as of now is empty in game.

Isnt it exactly as other Russian tanks tho? I’m checking it now in game and it got the traverse speed of T-80U-E1 which makes perfect sense as all these fancy high-end Russian stabilisers are very modern and have nothing to do with Oplot development which still reuses some legacy T-80 components.
A while ago, I saw someone post a source saying that the devs used a number from a brochure specifically for sniper mode. I think they made a bug report but forgot what’s the status on it. You could be right though, its complicated.
It might have better traverse speeds irl but what it got in game is still great considering T-80U-E1 is the 2nd best Russian T-80 when it comes to gun handling.
