Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

Even modern and current Russian tanks are unable to fire on the move and reliably hit targets. They are always stationary when engaging accurately.

Take that 2A4 that destroyed that Russian convoy it never stopped moving destroying the convoy and later it was disabled by an FPV drone.

Simply put Russian tanks should not be as accurate as NATO tanks due to the limitations in Russian FCS systems and gun laying/stabilisation.

So are NATO tanks? Noone wants to risk firing on the move in real life unless its suppressing fire or you’re outnumbered and need to GTFO ASAP. As for the Leopard I havent seen it but what I said prob still applies.

I dont know how does this relate in any way to Oplot tho.

No NATO tanks have the choice, we have M1s engaging tanks while traveling at near full speed.
Russian tanks have poor stabilisation just look at other weapon systems.
BMPT, BMP 2/3, BTR and KA-52 all of these systems show when firing the gun is not controlled and is allowed to recoil and shake around.

Then compare the 25mm on the M3 as it snipes positions or the CV-90s 40mm.

Also ERA inserts here @CollectorOfSins . You can see there are 6 sections for ERA per side. As I said we’re currently lacking one of the blocks in game.

Oh do we?

So now we’re comparing autocannons with MBT guns interesting.

You’re forgetting that Russian 30mm guns are area weapons meant to suppress with their volume of fire. If you want more accurate fire these autocannons have specialised low ROF modes and sure NATO equivalents would still be more accurate but that got nothing to do with stabilisers but barrel harmonics.

All I can think of is the videos ive seen of this thing

One kebab coming right up

Are they though? They do seem to be fired in bursts, surely if you wanted volume and could stabilise the gun sufficiently you could just fire in full auto? Most of 30mm footage is all short bursts.

Yes we can compare Leopard 2A6 and Puma stabs and see they are both very stable when firing and moving.

the issue is that the guns have a fixed dispersion value and it’s shared by a lot of 30mm guns. The BMP-2s gun has 0.08 dispersion, so does the 30mm Bushmaster, so does the 30mm GI-30 (which is insane, especially when the RARDEN gets 0.028 iirc)

Quick look at 30mm cannons

I believe the dispersion value is maxDeltaAngle, which are:

Pgz625: 0.15
2A42: 0.08
Bushmaster II: 0.08
Rhm Mk.30: 0.08
Mk.103: 0.08
Hss 831: 0.08
GI-30: 0.08
L21A1: 0.05

I wonder if we are going to get that new years summary like last year or what ever it was called

I wonder when gaijin will give nato tanks their anti ERA rounds like M829A4 or DM73

L27A1 and DM53. Probably M829A1/A2 should already have it. Probably way more too

Yo, speaking of hellfire, when are we going to get the hellfires mounted on the HMMWV or M113?

Spoiler

Several nations have a line with multiple missile carriers, when does the US get theirs? TOW HMMWV? LAV-AT/ATM? Hellfire M998 and M113? Oh Jeep TOW as well, forgot that little rat.

Also, maybe in this next update we will get that public test they talked about for regenerative steering? I know of several vehicles that would benefit from this feature, and we have yet to hear anything about it since Q&A.

As Morvran said there are already a few rounds in game that should have it. However and i dont remember the exact quote but i think one of the devs on stream or in a QnA said they dont plan on adding them because they dont think it would be that effective.

Which is funny because unless i am remembering wrong DM53 had an anti era modifier for a short while on the dev server it was first added on and it bypassed Kontact 5 completely. But that was forever ago and i dont really have the patience to dig for it atm.

Yep. Every arugment ive seen against it being added is basically just “It would nerf the soviets too much”

ATGMs like the ones on the ADATS used to defeat Russian ERA and they also no longer do.
I take Umbridge with Russian ERA being a catch all while 3BM60 can penetrate any NATO tank hull and not just weak spots.

Thats just this

Though the number of times i saw Brimstones just get a “hit” before this report was insane when hitting soviet tanks. So definetly been an issue for a while
