Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

could be a little more than that, and the 120D is going to perform better if the target goes cold after you already shot. at ranges where ASRAAM has a significant advantage over a 120D you can just use IRIS-T

They gave all Eurofighters Brimstones and 9Ms, I don’t see why they would treat these newer missiles differently

Aim-120D have a higher peek speed, and probably better agility at shorter ranges. If the meta doesnt shift and short range ARH performance remains prominant, then Aim-120D might hold an advantage over the Meteors. Though id probably run ASRAAM over Aim-120D because the ranges we are talking about for that favour the ASRAAM just as much.

Like I said, hopefully to create some asymmetry with aircraft that have no meaningful difference. A reason to grind more than 1

We’ll see, I do hope that they dont though. Would be more interesting of an encounter, but does also risk massive Britain tax on the ASRAAMs

IRIST has far shorter range then the ASRAAM, the ASRAAM has a maximum range when launched from an aircraft of almost 50km the where as IRIST is far better at close range with thrust vectoring

tbf the benifit of the Meteor is it being able to keep its energy until it gets closer to the target so if they actually model that, it can increase its speed closer to the target making it far harder to escape not to mention from what we know the meteor has a better radar then the D

under optimal conditions, with the 120D + IRIS-T you can completely cover the effective range gap for Meteor. at ranges where AIM-120D’s are insufficient compared to ASRAAM (very close range), IRIS-T would also work fine while being way better at dogfights

Im expecting the Meteor to just have a C&P MICA EM seeker currently.

In theory, the Meteor will have the same effectiveness largely regardless of range, but we’ll have to see, short range shots might still hold the advantage

according to?

hence why if you can take both ASRAAM and IRIST it will be hands down the best jet at that BR, the ASRAAM also has the benefit of being launched via PIRATE meaning you can take far longer shots with out the enemy plane never knowing its being shot at hence why I think ASRAAM is going to be better at closer ranges then the AIM-120D and actually with in visual range you rely on the IRIST

i think almost everything at that BR would have a MAWS. also, AIM-120D being better depends on ARH and AMRAAM fixes like i said earlier, which would make them very hard to beat at closer ranges especially with 2 way DL.

from what we have seen of MAWS in game they seem to be very hit or miss, more often then not they dump flairs and chaff so for planes that dont have BOL I doubt people will have them turned on, also you say that but most planes that will be that BR are our current top tier jets and I dont think really any of them have IR MAWS at least not in all aspect

I mean they could but realistically its gaijin who chooses balance its why the Gripen haven’t gotten MICA

the Mica dosent use the standart NATO launch rails/ ejector pylons

so tell me, how was it mounted to the Gripen and fired?

Yup, and I think they’ll be limited to one because it would be a big buff to have both

Its listed in a report by SAAB that it was mounted as part of SAABs goal to have the Gripen be usable with all Nato equipment.

The buyer only needs to choose what weapons they want and engineers will modify the pylon to work with the selected weapons.

who knows we will just have to wait and see what gaijin does with them I guess lol either way looking forward to using ASRAAM and PIRATE

Yeah, thats gunna be a fun combo

Regardless if you have a problem with it ask SAAB the listed ordinance was a guide to show the weapons that had been successfully mounted and could be done to any Gripen.

there are more variants and unadded features
