Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

I would love to see WT player age distribution and how much impact a change from pegi 12 to pegi 16 would have.

Unfortunately I doubt we will ever see this data.

They will keep the games seperated to be able to maintain the lower age rating of WT, keep development simpler, keep the system requirements and the server loads for each game as low as possible and to be able to balance each game seperately.

The more features a single game gets, the more potential you have to break stuff while working on seemingly unrelated things.

They also already cannot be bothered to properly balance WT as it is. Do you really think they would start putting more effort into balance, if the game was way more complex?

They already have one. WT is raking in crazy money without having infantry, better VR or WW1 content.

Why stop, they could get more, the player base is the key and war thunder has that!

They won’t get more to the point that this kind of effort would be justified. Getting the Enlisted players that don’t already play WT and the potential AoT players over would be a drop in the ocean.

adding new nations is more likely to attract more playerbase
For example adding indian vehicles would attract indians, and as we all know there’s many of them

I totally support that, more nations the better for everybody

Thats why this is such a great idea and should be incorporated into war thunder like yesterday

Who’s to say that both isn’t a good idea.

I want to see more WW1-interwar stuff and more nations(or at least the Sub-tree rework that was linked)

Both would bring in plenty of money(form those who play for fun and don’t chase META). Yes nations are likely clearer sources but WW1 can be given to (almost)all nations already.

sure we can get both, but everything you add takes dev time, and there is stuff that is just better done by others games

I don’t think you understand what a meta is.
You can like non-modern stuff and still be a meta-chaser. Chasing the meta means using strategies, equipment and vehicles that are perceived to be the best of their class.
If you look at the WW1 event for example, you can see that there still are meta-chasers, considering that the German Empire side has anywhere between 10 to 50 times more players queued up than the Triple Entente side and ingame most people use the A7V, St Chamond or the Garford and way fewer people use the Mark IV or Mark V.

Yeah, sadly most people want the easy way

On the one side, you can’t really blame them, as winning is more fun than losing.
On the other side, it is kind of sad that most players will not even consider playing something that isn’t meta. A lot of people aren’t willing to try stuff to see if they enjoy it, despite it not being the perceived as the optimal way to go.

Just talking about planes nearly everyone has options for aircraft but some nations would be pretty much all C&P from other nations but it being WW1 and low tier it wouldn’t really matter. But some nations would have to be skipped though since they either did not have any aircraft during 1914-1918 or simply did not exist.

US - Nearly exclusively used British and French aircraft. Only 1 US fighter saw service in WW1, the De Havilland DH-4.
Germany - Had their own aircraft.
Russia - Used license built British and French aircraft. Did make their own planes though, the Sikorsky S-16/20 fighters and the Ilya Muromets heavy bomber.
Great Britain - Had their own aircraft.
Japan - Had only 1 bomber at the end of 1918. (I think could be skipped like I said above)
China - No aircraft between 1914-1918.
Italy - Had their own aircraft but also used a lot of French aircraft.
France - Had their own aircraft.
Sweden - No aircraft
Israel - Didn’t exist during the time.

It would cover most of the major players of WW1 apart from 2 which would be tricky to place. The Ottoman Empire used exclusively German aircraft but would be tricky to place into the game since Turkey isn’t a nation in-game and there isn’t really a clear choice of where it should go. And Austro-Hungary would also be hard to place. It could go to Italy since Hungary is there but they were on opposite sides of the war, so the only other option would be Germany but since Austro-Hungary used German aircraft there wouldn’t really have a point there.

But overall I would absolutely love to see the WW1 aircraft. I don’t care if they are bad I find the birth of combat aviation to be interesting and cool. They are such an important part of military history and should be included in War Thunder.

Tbh I pick stuff purely based on how it looks, anyway I’m too bad to take advantage even with meta stuff

Indeed, “C&P” would be more common during WW1 as interwar is where most nations start making stuff.

But even then half the nations either used the Mark and/or FT or built their own versions on them.

Like most nations might have something obscure but there’s no guarantee it’ll be good ex:

This thing, might work as an SPAA at best

Is this made by Italy?

BeNeLux would shine at interwar/WWI era stuff.
Same goes for France, Italy, Japan, China, Mongolia, Britain, Germany and more other tiny countries.

WWI can be merged with interwar IMHO, since most stuff isnt really that big of a powercreep.
Although… (NOT BIASED AT ALL, this is just a fact) the Netherlands produced a few of the best interwar planes of its time, with the majority being exceptionally better than the rest, E.G. Fokker G.1 , D.XXI, etc… So not all interwar stuff should be combined with WWI. But a lot of nations you talked about do have in fact more than you think…

With interwar stuff yeah but for WW1 Japan, China, Sweden didn’t have many if any planes that were armed.

As we said in DM we could make two new nations and call them the Entente and Central powers, that way everyone won’t be left out but also be a way to limit their game modes too

If we are limiting to just WW1 many nations would struggle but if also add interwar at the same time we wouldn’t have as much issue as most early interwar vehicles are about equal to WW1 vehicles or at worse later ones.
