Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

it had a cockpit though lol

At the same time, Russia’s Su-75 fifth-generation aircraft is still in the PPT

I know, but the F-22 surely didn’t have the avionics of those aircraft. What makes a 6th gen what it is are the electronic warfare components it incorporates and other avionics related stuff, so it would basically be a fancy 5th Gen.

its smoke and mirrors lol

tbh, we dont even really know what constitutes a true 6th gen yet

so yeah, its not a 6th gen probably, but its a big step to one

They started a completely new design from scratch based on respective experiences with BAE Tempest and Mitsubishi F-X barely a year ago, how do you think there would be a flying prototype already?

BAE is working on an independent Tempest Demonstrator right now, while actual GCAP design is not final yet and will likely change quite a bit based on British evaluation of the BAE demonstrator and heavier input from Italy/Japan (since current GCAP design is just the British demonstrator)

Spoiler

BAE Tempest demonstrator under construction, still a long way from flying

The USAF has stated it is a 6th gen, we cannot know more than this. However you are free to believe what you want, I personnaly believe this chinese 6th gen is just an attempted show of force with a few outdated avionics or FCSs taken from the J-20 or something else, but who knows really?

Doesn’t make my statement false does it? The tempest hasn’t flown, the NGAD has.

They have agreements inplace deal was signed in 22. They are working on it.

A new power plant is being tested.

And the NGAD has already flown, its powerplant isn’t merely “being tested”. And again, doesn’t make my statement false.

it seems one of the 3 main things theyre advertising it to have, is a bigger alternator lol

It not even for domestic use IIRC

Youtubers and China have im yet to see an official release from Washington regarding this new airframe.

If you have one please share :)

Isnt it, like, early morning for them?

I’ve already shared the quotes that prove it has flown, the US certainly isn’t going to leak classified info about the NGAD lol
If China is dumb enough to show this to the entire world like the US has done with their F-22, It’s not my fault is it? :D

well the US govt denied the existence of the 117 until 1988, YF-117A flew 1981

same thing is almost certainly happening with NGAD

Electric power is interesting as a way to drive a RAM/SCRAM jet

its neither, u can literally see the turbine blades on the engine in the official website

Seems very fishy at best that NGAD has flown. I wouldn’t doubt prototypes for various individual parts were made, but NGAD flying 4 years ago seems unlikely. My best guess is this refers to either simulations with wind tunnel models or unmanned aircraft.

Maybe once there is actual images or documentation of this I will believe it, but by similar statements a lot of aircraft flew that we know for a fact never did.

I know, but to hit the speeds required it cant be a standard turbine
