For example later F-16s (Block 30 onwards iirc) use RAM to lower RCS compared to earlier models. It would be very nice if RCS was more vehicle specific (where possible) instead of the current system based on aircraft size.
This is the first time I’m hearing of this, source?
I want to say this isn’t true. There’s been specific variants for export that has been proposed with RAM, like F-16IN and Have Glass variants, but I don’t recall anything else.
Range isn’t the only factor at play here, the F/A-18C would be more akin to something like the J-10A which is perfectly good at 13.7 despite not having great radar range specifically because it is good at AOA dogfighting, and again the F/A-18C would have better missiles than the J-10 and more of them, making it a perfectly fine 14.0 aircraft.
The way you refer to aircraft it’s like the only way to play war thunder effectively is by staying at 10km altitude at Mach 1.5+ slinging AMRAAMs down on people, but that isn’t the only way to play, and it isn’t the only way to be effective. The F-15E is as much a one trick pony as the F/A-18C would be, all it does is go fast and high, but get into a dogfight with it and it’s a cakewalk to beat even in a J-10A
Q: The Roadmap is an excellent way to see what is planned to come. Are there any plans for a 2025 Roadmap? A: We used to gather previous Roadmaps when the general plan for changing the game dedicated to one goal was very long and consisted of many steps, and we wanted everyone to see the general goal and progress towards it. And now, there are many changes in the works aimed at improving the game in different directions, on different fronts, both improving stability, and first of all, updating the game graphics, and of course work on improving the game based on your reports and feedback. We plan to regularly cover the progress of development and report on our plans for implementing certain features and adding vehicles, and in the future we may return to the previous Roadmap format.
High likelihood of tk just means the player has to be more careful with their launches.
How would it even be OP, if it can only fire amraam within 16km. You could literally just see the yf-23 at that range. Even in sim, IRST would be enough (though it would have reduced detection range if the YF-23 was above as it emphasized IR reduction when looking from below)
It wouldn’t need radar or irst, because amraam has its own radar seeker.
And no, to my knowledge it didnt have CM so shouldn’t get them. Also, it turns out the weapons bay was fitted for weapons, and they put a real, instrumented aim-120 in them for fit checks and might have done closed carriage flights. It was also fitted for 2 aim-9 with the amraams. So this isn’t much of a stretch, if it even is.
High likelihood of TK was a specific reason given for the Brimstone not having radar modes, which means that unless the “YF-23” got some kind of pre-launch targeting it could not get AMRAAMs or AIM-9s .
Therefore, any implementation of the “YF-23” would have a radar, especially as the JHMCS wouldn’t be a reasonable option with it both not fitting the F-22 and the date of this “YF-23”, so with that a radar becomes necessary and with a radar the AMRAAMs become useful.
And an aircraft (even if it somehow ended up as low as 13.7) without CMs would be fundamentally useless as it would be immediately singled out and killed.
So as far as I can tell what you’re asking for is a prototype aircraft with weapons that need fundamental game changes to work, and no way of defending itself, so would still just be a free kill. Why would Gaijin ever even consider that? I mean I thought it was a lot to ask for a Gulf war F/A-18 with 9Ms and Sparrows, what you want is significant development time for a fictional pile of crap
two type of planes (in my mind) still not here in the game, it would be great if we see them in the game, first, huge jet bombers like B-1 and second, new prop planes with modern weapon like Tucano
The bugs should’ve been fixed during the dev server. It’s very infuriating to see how Gaijin is straight up rushing poor quality content, releasing it broken and they somehow get the hell away with it.
