Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion

Not to mention like everyone that isnt Britain or Germany doesnt have well-rounded subs. The US subs are decent in stealth and speed but they have one of the worst torpedoes, the Japanese subs are as loud as an underwater disco. The French and Soviets has subs that are just worse in all aspects but not with any glaring issues.

I mean, it’s entirely possible that Gaijin could screw them up. I can’t deny that.

But if subs weren’t interesting there wouldn’t be an entire genre of submarine simulation games dedicated to replicating the experience.

They will have the biggest advantage of having just like their DD counterparts the fastest and longest range ww2 torps which probably matters more for WTs gameplay purposes.

Cant comment on sound levels not too knowledgeable on that.

thats a terrible excuse things like U-Boat and the silent hunter series are set over a massive dynamic campaign not a 20 minute match with more capital ships then some nations had irl in a 40x40km map

Yeah, and when you play those games you realize that the gameplay in sub sims is VASTLY different to War Thunder.
It will never translate well into War Thunder in a way that everyone can enjoy.

before anyone tries to use the event as an example, it is in no way representative of a normal battle.

Thats gross, never say that again

Why?

probably due to the fact a lot of people are now here for modern stuff and if there is zero modern stuff until the end of the year then some players just wouldnt play the game for a full year pretty much

the idea is good, but not a goo way. just make Gaijin spend more resources in things except top MBT or jets would be fine

what if they are saving up f-18 for a huge US Navy focused update with CVN’s, 16in standard and fast battleships, and ofc the hornet

like they added kutzenskov or however its spelled with the su-33

we actually need top tier MBTs tho most nations are far behind the Strv122 and Leo2A7V

thats because the Su33 cant launch from a helicopter carrier

and F-18 primarily used on nimitz class so it would work too

you remind me that we actually have little top ground update in recent updates, just some C&P.

isnt UK and Japan at the end of the line for MBT? maybe 1 or 2 more left but nothing past that no?

still need counterparts to Leos

we have the challenger 3 production, which would have add on armour and an APS, we also have the option of the challenger 130

is it even in service yet? would be cool to have the big gun prototypes but knowing gaijin itll be an event vehicle

Yeah, the notion of submarines kinda scares me to be honest.

As someone said:

1- Bad to play as. The gameplay loop would consist of sailing at 11 km/h for 10 minutes until you get close enough to fire the torpedos; fire the torpedos, and hope the enemy vessel doesn’t change course or evade them.

2- Bad to play against. You are trying to face enemy ships, but waves of non-counterable torpedos keep coming to you- because torpedo spam from CCs and DDs isn’t bad enough… except you can’t even counter subs at all.

So I can’t really imagine a potentially good implementation of these.

proper ASW to give destroyers and lighter ships more of a place, and ASW aircraft like the catalinas

See, and this would become the “just spawn SPAA” of Naval.

80% of the people joining Naval to have epic Battleship fights, only to be constantly disturbed by submarines they can do literally nothing against.

And when Battleship players state that there’s a problem, we will be told: “just spawn ASW to counter the subs”.
