Sub trees are a tool to dump a top tier jet or a tank
Most clear examples are Hungarian & Finnish air tree and the whole Benelux thing

This is true for air to air combat, although I’ll say the Su-27SM seems to do a lot better now with the F-M1’s. Su-30M and Su-30MKK are viable at the right BR, and mostly as an extension of a ground strike/multirole plane. They are iconic (at least the Su-30MKK is) to their nations, and deserve to be in the TT.
I don’t want to hear NONE of this Su-30SM is coming in June -_-
Any time I see complaints that something is “DOA” and “should have been added earlier”, it just reads like “I’m sad it’s not powercreep”…
Things not defining the meta when added is a good thing.
In general yes, but when your Nation vehicles always end up on the “not meta” end of the stick it gets frustrating.
Meta Defining Vehicles should shift from update to update to diffrent Nations so everyone gets a slice of “being a littel bit bedder then the rest” cake.
It did get through. The armor got worse.
Given the decal, it makes more sense that Smin’s response to Su-30 and F-18 was a “not this update” as it means there are plans for it already in motion.
However, this does have me concerned for the F-2 as the response for that has been “no information at this time” which to me says there are no plans at all yet in the near future about it.
I’d like to think that it’s the same response despite different wording but hope is a dangerous thing after all
that would be pretty mad, I mean they’ve started adding AESA radars, if the F-2 isn’t in the cards then Gaijin must truly hate Japan, I have to believe that it is coming at the very least this year, and ideally in the first half
Im gonna be honest, likely no. The last time someone got a gripen, they didnt get a unique jet until the eurofighter, in fact, there was two cases. Would likely be a “ye got a gripen calm down” moment. But would like to be proven wrong on this case too.
That “last time someone got a Gripen” was a country that couldn’t get anything until the Eurofighter, in fact that was both times, so in this case it would be, Japan just got a Gripen, they now won’t get anything until the F-2, and there’s nothing stopping the F-2 now that AESA radars are being added
Italy used both AIM-9Ms and AIM-120s on its F-16s, so there was something that Italy could’ve gotten.
Fair, though it wouldn’t have been a new aircraft really
An F-16B ADF could’ve been added a new a vehicle, and in my opinion still should, foldered with the A ADF.
Yea I don’t know. It was an odd choice to add the Thai sub-tree this update but it is what it is. I’m hoping just like Apex Predators, since they skipped out on Japan, we’ll get something in March but eh…
That’s what we got told because we got the F-15J(M). I feel like people are forgetting that we aren’t asking for F-2 because it’s gonna be top dog, we want it because it’s F-2. So the F-15J(M) existing doesn’t matter at all.
It’s just funny. Time and time again Gaijin says no F-2 because AESA, but then they add AESA and say absolutely nothing about F-2, even going as far as to avoid discussion either on forums or in live chats that they are actively monitoring (and answering!). Obviously they know something we don’t but, maybe they’re also just avoiding the discussion because we won’t like the answer (i.e. it’s not coming soon).
If Gaijin doesn’t push it back even more, hopefully next update is another air focused one with the F-2 being one of the standout additions.
The Thai subtree was for Japanese CAS really, I don’t think any of their aircraft have guided A2G munitions so it’s more surprising they didn’t do something sooner
Yea but adding it in the December updates of all updates as opposed to say the last one which was very CAS focused with F-15E and Su-34.
Note also how the Benelux and Hungary sub-trees got a teaser spotlight, while the Thai ones were surprisingly missing.
Has to be March, other nations need a 14.0, Russia included.
That is true, I think it would have made a good March update as well, but December was a weird one now that you mention it
I would expect it’s over the next two updates that we see everyone get a 14.0 as it requires at least 3 more likely 4 aircraft, those being:
F/A-18C or JAS 39E for Sweden
SU-30SM (with Russian missile fixes) for Russia
J-11B or J-10B for China
You would also expect the F-2 but it isn’t technically necessary
