In the scenario of a correctly modelled AAM-4, you should be fine with guiding it as long as possible, since it would be superior to any of the (currently) upcoming missiles in kinetic range, as it comes close to e.g. AIM-120C-4/5 in real life.
Unfortunately, I also have the feeling that the devs are initially implementing the AAM-4 as a pseudo AIM-120A, instead of the AIM-120C-4/5-like performance that we know about - which, however, is also difficult to bug report…

Well, look at Pantsir’s track radar. Its PESA and its kinda buggy, but it works. They’ll probably have it refined by the time we’re even considering AESA

It’s just the nature of the beast as we get to more modern tech. Everything is up to Gaijin’s interpretation and that’s fair. It’s their game and a game first, simulation second.
I also expect the AAM-4 to just be similar to the AIM-120 just because they already did that with AIM-9M and AAM-3.
I have a sneaking suspicion we may see a spike in no-no documents as ARHs get introduced from people being mad about them

Tornado F3 AOP/FSP at 12.3/12.7
Throw in the Harrier Gr9A at 12.3
(and Tornado Gr4 at 12.7 if it gets ASRAAM)
and we have a decent little line-up for 12.0+ without the Gripen

More likely our line-up between the Harrier Gr7 and Typhoon F2 will be stuff like the Mig-21, Su-30 and Tejas and Cheatah. We’ll be lucky if we get a single native aircraft after the Sea Harrier for the next year or so
