the 9L order appears in the 84 yearbook
Yeah but is that the same order though
They did eventually export some but only after the Li had taken over the market.
it had no order ammount in 84 the later one does
1991 Tornado F3s had 9M
They didn’t work well but thats another story
The RAF and FAA used them
Tornado F3s and Tornado Gr1s recieved them ahead of (and for) Desert Storm (Op Granby) and the Sea Harrier FRS1 was cleared for use with them ahead of the FA2 entering service.
Though the RAF had issues. The modifications they made to the Aim-9 Launch rails to “dechirp” them kept breaking the 9Ms.
The RAF ultimately decided it wasnt worth it and the 9Ms werent good enough (The IRCCM wasnt as good as advertised and the extended lock range of the 9Ms was the same as the dechirped 9Ls) so swapped back to 9Ls until ASRAAM entered service (iirc)
AIM-95 is the Agile though
its 9S
that sais 9S not 95
anyways, what blog do you think we’ll get today?
I know it’s still like 6h until then
Ah, I was very confused for a second…
F-4F ICE, given it’s the Phantom Phirst Phlight anniversary
UK didn’t get 9S
9S didn’t to well
No kidding…
why would anyone want to buy a 9S when a 9Li is better and probably also cheaper
Who knows
The US wanted to keep their secrets I guess. Secrets that weren’t so secret after all.
True to form. US both simutaneously trying to help and screw over allies :D
It’s the US.
There is a list 20 miles(Kilometres is probably bigger but doesn’t roll off the tongue as well) long of all the problems they caused just because they didn’t want an allied nation to be good.
