The issue with the early AMRAAM was specifically about susceptibility to certain types of jamming. In terms of range, and kinematic performance the AMRAAM (even the AIM-120A) was mich better than the Sparrow.

I just want ASRAAM’s, I don’t care about AMRAAM’s.
Same, obviously with AMRAAMS would be my preference but an F-5 airframe with 6x aim9L already won’t dissappoint I’m sure.

Basically, AIM-9P-3 with potentially slightly better G-pull, slightly longer range, might be smokeless, and all-aspect with IRCCM (uses 9M seeker head)
