I know nothing of game engines and technology at all, but that “what if” war thunder universe is something I am extremely familiar with. My god what a great game it could be.

especially with frame generation, shi runs at like 300 fps

To make things clear: The UE5 just performs so abysmal most of the time because most devs skip or just use miniscule ressources on the optimization step. If you do things “right” the UE5 runs as good as any other game engine. A game engine stands and falls with the developers who use it and UE5 has the curse and blessing of being easy to learn, hard to master and offering extremely advanced tooling so especially small studios can realize their creative idea but don’t have the manpower, know-how, money and time to optimize their creation thoroughly.
ue 5 games do look good though.
like i just played silent hill f and that game looks amazing
especially for non competitive shooters like war thunder is where super high framerates dont matter i think a graphical overhaul would be quite good
Hm yes, singleplayer game, good comparison to an MMO lmfao, and brother, frames very much matter in the game, if you think they dont go play on locked 30 and try to have fun in toptier at that actual snailspace frame time
I know, I am very much aware that UE5 can work extremely well, but you know how game devs and their publishers are
There ain’t no way Gaijin would manage to optimize UE5 even nearly enough for the game to run as well as it does with Dagor

ofc frame genning to a 30 fps output though would be abysmal
Its not surprising to me that the good running UE5 games use incredibly heavily modified versions of UE5 to a point where you cant even call it UE5 anymore
