Major Update "Spearhead" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Only issue is we have little to no data on it’s performance.

You heard it here first, Rumor Roundup & Discussion is mine now

I still think it needs some work, but I agree this is most likely the motivation.

This just feels like a lazy way to add Nation Folders. But Mauswaffe is already making the current system look a lot better. (speak of the devil)

It doesn’t make any sense why some Nation Flags are available though, like Germany can pick Kingdom of Italy because it had Italian vehicles, that you can no longer get. Feel like it just should be subtrees/

Add a Thai reserve then, their Type 83 (Ha-Go) had Type 98 cannons which could actually be good.

I have mixed feelings on the nation thingy on one had it’s funny(and I will use it) but on the other hand it feels lazy and a way to get around sub-tree issues without fixing half the issues.

My more negative thoughts:

MAUSWAFFE improvements:

Well thinking about it this system is likely for the Korean tree so the don’t have to pick a single flag, it dose have some uses in game, like for China or Germany, basically any nation the goes through of few name/flag changes throughout War Thunder’s time period. After that it’s more why dose this exist?

Same form factor as the AMRAAM. 7" diameter and similar length with probably around the same weight

If they properly indicate what is a permanent nation in the tree (so “main” and “subtree” nations) and what is just one-off vehicles of nations not bound to that tree / already in another tree, then I think this could still work.

They also don’t seem to allow changing Britain to France at the moment despite French vehicles in the tree though, so I think they might still be working out some of these questions themselves.

Eh whatever the official reason is I think it’s a nice change letting people pick the appropriate flag they want. Personally I’m going to have my UI as follows

Great Britain — > British Empire
USSR —> Russian Empire
Germany —> Modern day
CCP ----> ROC

and if I have a pure sub line up say Finland or South Africa ect then I’ll change the flag accordingly

wow that actually took long to get to Part 2 this major

it’s really telling that this update is currently quite lean in additions

everyone else is a Nation, Germany is The entire Modern day

all modernery is German by that comment

I like the idea

Might just be because Britain has so many available flags. I don’t think they have a scrolling feature, do they?

Wasn’t my intent xD

It’s the same with the Israeli stuff too so I think you just can’t change to a nation that’s already ingame

Yeah, I also hope this doesn’t mean they want to use it as band-aid fix for subtree issues. There is a lot more to fix and a lot to improve too.

Once it’s released I’ll update the subtree rework suggestion with the feature in mind (and maybe some improvements to it if necessary)

I think I plan on doing this, tho I might change the US to Australia once I get the AIM:

Also, because people have asked elsewhere, the two different ways you could do with Canada:

My current setup, will change Israel → Cyprus, might change Italy → Hungary

Ideally I would make USA → Turkey but thats wishful thinking (M60 is expensive)

Maybe Italy, Finland, Romania and South Africa are mistakes then. We’ll have to see if we get a devblog for it or maybe some dev server updates

At least for me Hungary wasn’t an option either, but Gszabi said he could select it before and I don’t have the Hungarian He-112 in the German tree so that could also be the reason.

I couldn’t see Hungary either.

No point really, they’re aware of the munitions existence and will add it when they want to and are ready to. I’m flattered that you think I’m good at making suggestions, but the ones I’ve made are limited to vehicle at the moment, not weapons.
