manpads’s mobility is mainly limited by fin aoa or other similar paramattas, g limit is not the true limit, so the Mistral is not better with more G limit.
it actually has a start tvc so not so bad, but it has no proxy now, this is the biggest problem.
By adding rotor return + decrease MP height helis are more realistic and even could be added to Sim like @TheAceOfAces said. And by adding IIR missiles to some of them it furthers game progression + gives the helicopters better self protection.
Gun based/stinger based runway air defence. Even JLTV or just soldiers with stingers should help deal with this. Not to mention that the only example I really know of can only carry 2 of them
I mean most maps like Afghanistan have plenty of places you can hide from bass AA and with an IRIS-T you could kill an plane by poping up for less then 3 seconds firing and dipping back down safe again
2 missiles then you need to rearm + you have to make it there in the first place, then make it back for full reward. dont think any helicopters have IRIS-T btw
I say this from the perspective of being a Heli enjoyer, but we really need to be careful going down that route.
A well played Heli, utilizing terrain, can be incredibly difficult to spot / counter. And if he’s able to just have what is effectively a death bubble around him at all times, it’s going to be miserable for fixed wing users, who will just spontaneously disassemble every time they fly over a wood line or crevasse.
You’d also have to make huge areas around the other teams airfields inaccessible or some Heli is just going to delete everything that takes off with such AAM’s at their disposal.
I already think TY-90’s would be problematic in Sim EC, things like IRIS would be a whole other realm of issue.
It’s not FnF for the entire 40km. It has datalink + IOG until the target is in range of the IIR seeker, which is 25km. The radar should be the best we’ll have ingame though.
maybe more advanced air defence networks in airbases at top tier? FLIR, AESA radars, datalink between AAA. basically so as soon as they pop up they get clipped by 30mm since AI air defence soliders “remember” their last know position and general course
So that still means the radar only needs to guide it IF the target is more than 25km and only for 0-15km.
compared to say, ADATS which needs to manually guide no matter how far away the target is, is quite major. As it means you can duck behind cover once its gone active. Also IOG should mean that you dont necessarily need to wait until it has gone active to go hide.
Also if you try to break LoS with the launcher, then you may not have broken LoS with the missile. Which again, is quite a major buff for the SAM
what is with you guys and IRIS-T? when have i ever said anything about helicopters with IRIS-T, theyd have AIM-9X since the only one I know of is the AH-1Z (and im fine with AH-1Z late at higher BR)
Yep, it will for sure be quite a major upgrade in terms of GBAD. I can imagine the TEL will get a 20s deploy time or something so you could drop a couple GPS bombs, forcing it to move and then get close to kill it. Wouldn’t really work against a 4 stack of SLMs though lol
