Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

I’m not claiming UHT’s defensive situation is already fantastic or anything, I’m more just making the point that giving it IRIS-T’s would be too much of a buff.

You said it yourself above :

UHT, is still a form of aircraft lol.

Fixed wings will not be able to hide behind terrain from a UHT in the same way they will be able to against something like Elde or SLM.

Helicopters already have comically low IR & Radar signatures, so giving them near guaranteed hit missiles would just be too painful for fixed wings to counter.

To be honest… If we are talking about IRIS-T SLS. Then yeah, that would be a reasonable argument. If Germany does get IRIS-T SLM… then I think them coming for aircraft sooner rather than later is a real possibility

they should give italy and the UK ASRAAMs to compensate for the lack of SPAA frfr

new F-22 SPAA as well

U gotta remember, the Typhoon with ASRAAM and F-22 are both self propelled and anti aircraft

I cannot help but feel the community is going to deeply regret asking for these ultra modern AAM’s, when they actually experience the awful, point and click adventure gameplay they will bring lol.

It entirely depends on how the seekers are modeled. If we are assume for a moment we arent getting IIR, but instead IRCCM+ which will be harder to defeat than what we currently have but not by an unreasonable amount and will have better resistance when fired from longer range. Then… I dont actually think theyd be all that bad

so it’s sure the Iris-t SLM will get some kind of nerf, but it’s hard to figure out how.

doubt it, there is no way that isnt ahistorical which would then mean they have willing crippled the EFTs with no FnF weapons

I was more thinking BOL than Brimstone in that example

Get what you’re saying mate, but if’s and assumptions being the only lock on Pandora’s box really worries me.

Well, we’ll find out soon enough. and a SAM system is exactly how I would test and tune “IIR” prior to adding them for aircraft

this is the hard to figure out part, but I’m sure we are not ready for a mid-range SPAA

Next step would be IIR on things like helicopters

Probably not actually.

That would just create a wierd balancing issue for them I think.

MMW on the other hand… Maybe.

Though with 40km FnF SAMs this major looking likely… They cant put MMW off all that much longer

welp not like we are getting a choice as gaijin went for one of the worst options to test this system

Not to mention Iglas biggest weakness - they’re caged.

If I had the option to take ATAS on my Ka-52 and Iglas on my 64D, I’d be taking ATAS on both.

Iglas are just useless most of the time, because you can’t hit what you can’t lead lol. The cage is like Aim-9B levels of awful, and in a Heli you’re pretty much always engaging in side / diagonal aspect.

Well I’d like them to model rotor radar returns, maybe at the same time as a MP height decrease so adding IIR to helis wouldn’t be as big of an issue

Now that would be a far more beneficial thing for them to do.

Verbas are also in the game now but they’re only on the AMTASH-VN iirc. Would probably take that overall.

As someone who’d love to get Heli’s into Sim EC, this would fix a big complaint many people have against them.
