Essentially. Some issues with the render distance of ground vehicles so finding targets can be a pain.

Depends somtimes you’ll fly 10 minutes and your get sniped by a SPAA or you’ll get gunned down. It’s fun sometimes but it’s role isn’t really represented.

The F/A-18A and C variants, which according to leaks we are most likely to get, wouldn’t push the meta in any substantial way. They’re basically sidegrades to the F-16 and F-15 already available, neither of which are meta-defining planes right now.
The Super Hornets would offer some new capabilities but that’s almost certainly not what we’re getting, it’s not what was teased in the 2025 decal either.

At this point it’s only going to be a meta contender if it has more advanced missiles.
But given that the US is fine for top tier jets at the moment, it’s the best time to add the Hornet that we’re going to get, it probably should have been added before Fox 3s were tbh but that opportunity is gone.
The US shouldn’t get a meta pushing jet until the rest of the nations have caught up anyway, so the Hornet is a good option for back filling.

Tbf this update seems pretty unlikely to fix the current gaps for the 3 nations without 14.0 so we could see more stuff pop up later in the year but i think its more likely we’ll see the US pull back into the Meta with more advanced stuff, same with the Rafale. I don’t see any other nations aside from US, France, and the rest of the EFT nations being the permanent top dogs until we get to stealth. Though stealth seems more gimmick esq than anything for now.

4 nations without a 14.0, Russia, Sweden, Japan, China.
Though this update will likely lower that to 2 or 3 with Russia and maybe China getting a 14.0.
Also, China has the capability to be permanently in the top tier meta if Gaijin let them, they are realistically one of the modern-day major nations

My bad, forgot F15J isn’t 14.0
I do fear it getting way more advanced AAMs that just push the F-18C to being the meta by the sheer weight of its missiles and everyone else being denied upgraded missiles because “they aren’t needed”
Though could be 14.0 quite easily. But the F-2 is possible though whether that would be 14.0 is debatable
Stealth alone won’t make the next generation of top-tier jets meta. It will be their advanced avionics and weapons.
That’s how nations beyond the US, Russia, and China will compete.
I thinks its pretty unlikely the F-18’s will get better missiles for now. C-5 will be worse as they are better for long range and not short range engagements. The F18’s speed will force it to play around 5km to avoid contrail. So again it plays like most other non meta climbing Fox-3 slingers. Give it the current missiles we have now and it will be a counterpart to the Su-27SM.

C5s alone wouldn’t be too bad. But I also fear it getting Aim-9X. That would be annoying without equals for everyone else
Id rather see the snail start looking at adding ECM to older jets and test the waters. Like the MGBT

Oh yeah, I don’t think this Hornet should get those newer missiles, just saying it’s the only way it’d be meta, however my point was more about how the Hornet not changing the meta isn’t a bad thing, the US is joint 5th currently for best jet so they’re doing fine for now, and I can’t imagine it’ll be long before they get something better

December at the earliest, but more likely in one of the big updates next year I think
I barely trust Gaijins statements at the moment and those convos were usually in regard to MICA IR, IRIS-T or ASRAAM for the typhoon and Rafale iirc
Yeah, maybe the odd upgrade for the F-15, but yeah, they’ll be perfectly competitive for a good long while
