This isn’t a good example of “not in service” weaponary as their are countless examples of that across the game.
Every time the F-4F comes up it’s generally used as it it was some sort of exception when in reality the weapons are both in the manual and we’re used on German F-4F airframes I’m America.
Gaijin has limited the amount of missiles a plane can carry before and I don’t see them let a plane carry 12 missiles total
while true the only realistic loadout on the SA gripen is maybe the bombs lol
Yeah but those missiles will be mounted on an airframe that actually handles like a modernfighter instead of a skyscraper with wings.
Its T/W is higher. It pulls more Gs loses less energy, Has MUUUUUCHHHHHH better handling at slow speed.
All in all its a hugely improved airframe. Even with the same weapons loadout how would it not be an improvement.
If used on its own, sure, but he used this example alongside others to demonstrate a pattern, so it fits.
Hate to break it but it was just attached to a 2 year old internal suggestion for them which we already shared the answer too. It’s a balance decision.
Why not? Everyone here is saying that the flight performance is bad and it has no a2g abilities. Giving it more firepower as compensation is just logical
the Top speed of an F/A-18C is Mach 1.8 compared to Mach 2.2 on the F4F
now load more and more Missiles on that F-18 and itll go down significantly
It’s a very particular one to pick in that case if not for the previously mentioned reasons.
why doesn’t gaijin add more late and early variants then? For example I would like a F-104G early with just aim9bs.

tbf I was just showing that there are a bunch of planes that have weapons the natiosn that used them never had, it wouldnt be unsurprising if the F/A-18C in swiss and finnish service were given loadouts the planes could carry but the nation itself didnt have
We already have an F-4F late and early as well as the ICE. We don’t need an F-4F Early Late and Late Late.
I’m not an expert, but I did read that the 18C can barely reach M1.1 at lower altitudes. Now slap 10 amraams on it and I think it’ll have some issues.
what about Tornado Late Late (I yearn for the missile bus with ASRAAMs and C5s)
The names could be changed to what they really are, then, as they had names in real life that aren’t used in game.
This is the same for the Tornado F.3 AOP, being known simply as Tornado F.3 Late, despite there being the FSP after it.
I was more referring to a F-104G early without aim9Js at maybe 10.0 as a cas plane
kinda assuming there smin lol, it was just the first couple of options I could think of off the top of my head
just play the allmighty SHAR or an AV8B+ for a realistic flight performance of a Fully loaded F-18 and on top the AV even has the same radar as the F-18C so you get to experience its combat abillities too! (but dont use HMD the swiss and finnish hornets didnt have that)
Feel free to make suggestions for the F-4Fs to change their name if that’s the case. But we dont currently plan to introduce any more F-4Fs. That’s for certain.
