Unfortunately the weird hull design where the beam is much wider at the base makes them very dangerous after theyve taken on water from damage. A bunch of french built Russian battleships would capsize because of this design flaw at Tsushima.

I can try to explain it as if France was an autism spectrum. Since the French copy no one and no one copies the French. You just have to know.
But with a little more thought into it, I can say that the ships were designed to fit as much as possible for any need. Where each gun was supposed to be used for a specific purpose. But in practice it was rather impractical.
