Only C6 [maybe C5] becomes superior to R-77-1 by ending the ground reflections setback.
And I’m unaware of any version between R-77-1 & R-77M that fixes R-77’s ground reflections setback.

Why are you just talking about Aim-120C what about The A model? You know right that the R-27ER was developed in the 90s around the time the Aim-120A was being produced. Also the speed and range of the ER compaired to the 120A is absolutely Hilarious.
The R-27ER was developed to give life extensions to airframes that cannot fire R-77s, that’s it.
Russia didn’t have the refit power USA did.
F-15 forward all had AMRAAM compatibility added to them universally.
Not a single F-15, 16, or 18 wasn’t AMRAAM compatible in active US service in the mid 1990s.
However, Russia was still rocking Su-27s and pre-compatibility Mig-29s, neither of which can fire R-77s.
Today they retired all the R-27 only aircraft, but in the 1990s they needed any upgrade to the R-27R [a missile equivalent to France’s Super 530D or America’s AIM-7E-2 but with datalink].
R-27ER is not comparable to ANY AARH, which includes any AMRAAM.
All AARHs are superior to all SARHs.
A model would be pointless tbh. B had realistically the same performance and actually saw service outside of US.

bud the Aim-7E-2 was a vietnam era missile, the US had Aim-7Ms which still are no where near the range of the ER.
And yes it is Its about who kills who first. You still avoid a Fox 1 the same as a Fox 3. You still get a active radar warning when the Fox-3 goes active.

IRL yes. In game? Competitively balanced. Occasionally the R-73 can do some ignorant sh*t, but it is NOT as good, especially in IRCCM, as it should be.
More F-111 variants or another F14 variant would be nice.
