Ah that combo makes sense, though you still have to get high, semi fast and/or semi close to drop the Grom-2s.

I was genuinely worried we would have Tunisia Sim matches where people took off in the Su-34, fired the Grom-1s and then immediately RTBed, they could have taken out bases or the AFs without leaving the AA.

Though maybe having AF AA target certain weapon types could be a good idea to mitigate it

issue is this uses GPS guidance, idk if PGMs have GNSS or not but ik they have IR and i dont think the IR lock would reach the distance to a base

It still wouldnt be as extreme. Need to be pretty high to get the full 50km out of them iirc, the last place I would actually really want to be in either.

Point lock can go to the 30km range limit and beyond, but yeah, getting a lock could be temperamental

(40km lock range on ground apparently)

Couldnt tell you, not that fast I dont think, probably subsonic, just being powered you could loft them for extra range too

i mean i never tested them, but with Kh-58, and AGM84 now in game, and other glide bombs (on the test drive i got a GBU-39 to go over 100km)

being GPS only Grom-1 wont be that much a menace

The issue was the motor on them. Look at the clip above (I think also maybe being powered they didnt have the same drop speed limit, so you could get extra range from that too, but dont quote me on that)

Glide bombs have an inherrent limitation (and there is still Grom-2 equivalent for those)

AGM-84, arent they limited to point lock due to being mixed seeker not just pure GNSS like Grom-1s? So couldnt yeet them at long range. Similar for KH-59?

The issue was PvE in ARB/ASB and less so their performance in GRB, in that they were perfectly fine

maps are too small for cruise missiles tho, i mean some operation maps like spain might be big enough but some have ranges of over 250km like SCALP/Storm shadow

well i have always wanted larger matches where you can realistically outrange the longest range ARH missiles front aspect, in non-awful launch conditions

KH101, Storm Shadow and JASSAM all have ranges over 250km which is far bigger than any map ingame right now, so i doubt we’ll see them and too many people would complain abt the bigger maps, say like theres 2 ppl left and 3 on ur team and the map is over 250km long, and they staying low it’d be painful to search for them

thats why air RB needs a rework, larger maps but with Respawns (shock horror, make it like every other gamemode in this game) would make it a lot nicer to play, increase rewards, and increase insentives for PvE

Longer match times than 25 mins would also be required in such a case though

Ideally a separate mode for it would come, and some do like air RB, and the very large maps would be incompatible with low tier prop gameplay

either a lazy name Air RB (Respawns), or the gaijin-dreaded “Air RB EC” would work

Yeah, you can kill 2 bases with 6. Grom-1 iirc required all 6 to hit a single base for a kill. However, Grom-2 takes the launch velocity (max speed Mach 1.5) and then slows down/glides to target. Grom-1 has a rocket with a max speed of Mach 2 (no launch limits, at least when it was released) and then glides as normal.

I mean you already can with AGM-130s or AASM HAMMER, you just need clear skies and that 30 km limit removed.

all 6 KH-38 can only kill around ~95% of a base

Mach 2 rocket speed, at the time it was launched there was no max rocket release speed so you could technically fire them at mach 2 or more. Once it burns out (which was pretty quick) it slows down and glides

Ranges aside, that’s not why they’re not added right now.

Also, Blind Hunt/Avenger go brrr.

fuel count, missiles, CM, ammo, all would be depleted if you didnt know how to play very efficiently on a large map

Literally just use MIL power and use afterburner sparingly

Which imo would be a lot more fun and engaging. I really CBA to play ASB at the moment, so only been playing ARB, but I sit on max reheat the entire match and dont even think about fuel until late game.

As for the others, it just forces you to think before firing as to not waste ammo, too many people just spam shots because they can easily rearm, less missiles in the air, less need to use CMs. (Actually, a test event where it was ARB with no markers and no AFs (so you were truly limited on ammo, fuel, etc) would be a really interesting thing to see)

Also lower density matches would mean that there would be less spam and generally slower games
