Next Major Update - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 1)

I can say it may have been the best in a stricly defensive doctrine but offensively i see it lagging behind

Strictly speaking he said “upon entering service”. Chieftain entered service in 1965 and T-64 entered service in 1967, so the T-64 was not a competitor “upon [the Chieftain] entering service”.

I think you’d then have to account for inbuilt NVD, FCS being very good and a very very potent cannon. But I also cannot imagine a Chieftain leading a push (engine would stop working before it climbed the ridgeline xD).

Well, they wouldnt would they?

A core part of the NATO plan was dig in and defend. So thats why many NATO tanks have very strong turrets but weaker hull armour.

Yes, WoWs tends to do a ton of straight-up fake designs and what-if refits. That said, the vast majority of ships in-game are real though.

Yea well that is very strict.
Still, entrance to service is also a rather loose term. Im not trying to downplay your statement by the way.
Eh, enough of that though.

Indeed so you could argue that it was the best tank in NATO and as @Flame2512 pointed out, T-64 isn’t a competitor by timeline but I’d also probably haggle a bit over T-64 anyway.

But doctrinally the chieftain would suck in soviet forces, and the modern equivalent would suck in the newly adapted NATO forces… hence why there’s a lot of debate over Challenger 2.

Me looking at the gazillionth AL ship

I knew they took liberties, just didn’t realise they magic up nonsense.

Yeah, which is the real issue for War thunder and its CQB tiny maps.

I read a really good analysis on reddit before that basically summed up why soviet tanks always feel so much better than everyone elses and whilst I do still think they are overperforming in a few key ways, one of the biggest reasons is that hte maps and gamemode designs just so heavily favour the soviet doctrine of tank design.

They sure do

its so jover, unironically tho chieftain Mk10 at 9.0 with the shot kal delt is a deadly combo, sure no speed but great guns and good armour when hull down

There’s a long list of British vehicles I really don’t like, makes me a hater but so be it…

Just a shame the 9.0 line up is soo… eh…

No SPAA without uptier
No IFV without uptier
Only the single MBT or uptier the Cheiftain Mk5 which isnt as good without the L23.

fair enough lol

I mean there isnt really a 9.0 worthy IFV, if we got rapier mk1 with no proxy that could be 9.0

Or my personal vote, a Rover with a Javelin LML.

Chief and Shot Kal? Why not the Triple Chief?
Wish we’d also get the Mark 11 or 12 soon. People love to talk about gaps but miss the huge one between the Mark 10 and Chally 1.

Let alone additions like the Cheiftain 900 and 2000.

Mk. 11 features a thermal, which at its BR would perhaps be decisive since its a sniper tank. However it probably needs a huge map to play the advantages. If its foldered below the mk10 would take it ofc.
