imagine the markup on an AIM-260
double to triple isn’t so weird, and with bulk discounts that the US most certainly gets it can be very hard to figure out what the actual cost is, but I’d expect when Israel for example buy the AIM-260 they’ll be paying 3x as much as the US, although the US provides military aid to Israel so like I said it gets confusing quick
i think with the reveal of 6th gen Chinese jets, AMRAAM and JATM domestic prices will be lower than they would be, maybe even as low as 1.5 million for a 260, because they will make a lot more of them
It’s the economy of scale, the world is scared and arming itself, that means everyone wants missile, which means Raytheon can make a lot of them which is more efficient and therefore cheaper, so overall everyone pays a bit less, but that is only if they can keep up production, if there are too many missile sales without the production to match then the price may go up, even for the US
yeah, if they decide to go all out with AIM-260 and replace AMRAAM production lines with JATM ones on top of the brand new ones made for JATM, they could probably keep up with increased demand
So a legacy hornet, will it just be US or all other nations, like Finland or Switzerland?
idk, hopefully US
I think the plan with JATM is to use it more sparingly with the AMRAAM still being in significant use, the way I heard it described was the JATM is a kick the door down missile and the AMRAAM is for clearing the room
I think Finland should get it too, don’t really see the need for Switzerland though
yeah pretty much, but now with 6th gen on the horizon and Chinese mass produced 5th gens, i think the AIM-260 will replace amraam completely due to necessity
eh they have gripens already, get them an MS20 Gripen or something
And the Fakour 90 is now at a correct BR.
Derby is superior to F90 in everything other than absolute range on a platform with a more efficient engine, better radar, better RWR, and similar countermeasure counts.
The only downside is Kfir is a Mirage 5 airframe, so it’s the 3rd? worst airframe at 13.0.
For AMRAHM carriers, front-line speed matters more than total airframe performance usually.
Won’t matter they will add the Hornet to everyone like the M44 did
going off confirmed subtress, only Sweden should be getting it besides USA
soo… and whats the point of having the last heavily modified variant of the Kfir in the World if it would miss practically one of the most escential things that makes it the Block 60?, i totally would prefered the normal C.10 instead of this, right now in the state it is, it is being completely wasted and is far from what it really is. its such a shame.
not really, it has quite good engine, which mostly fixes overall perfomancce of frame
there will definitely be a switch towards the JATM long term, but I think the US still wants to stockpile AMRAAMs and use them against lower tech adversaries, the AIM-120 is still a great missile, it’s also lighter and cheaper, you have to remember war is an economic game, no use having the best stuff if it bankrupts you out of the war
I added a sentence that addresses that likely while you were typing that.
I think it would be a good addition to Finland, they need something to sell their new top tier Swedish premium as well, so it seems likely
Australia could for Brit air.
