Yeah, and when you play those games you realize that the gameplay in sub sims is VASTLY different to War Thunder.
It will never translate well into War Thunder in a way that everyone can enjoy.
before anyone tries to use the event as an example, it is in no way representative of a normal battle.
probably due to the fact a lot of people are now here for modern stuff and if there is zero modern stuff until the end of the year then some players just wouldnt play the game for a full year pretty much
Yeah, the notion of submarines kinda scares me to be honest.
As someone said:
1- Bad to play as. The gameplay loop would consist of sailing at 11 km/h for 10 minutes until you get close enough to fire the torpedos; fire the torpedos, and hope the enemy vessel doesn’t change course or evade them.
2- Bad to play against. You are trying to face enemy ships, but waves of non-counterable torpedos keep coming to you- because torpedo spam from CCs and DDs isn’t bad enough… except you can’t even counter subs at all.
So I can’t really imagine a potentially good implementation of these.
You should never need to depend on counting on bringing in friends to be able to have an enjoyable experience- that should come as standalone the moment you queue up for a match alone.
That’s leaving aside the fact that maybe there wouldn’t be many people who would want to be a dedicated ASW, the same way only very few people would want to be a dedicated SPAA, except it’s even more extreme in Naval’s case, since each spawn has the potential of lasting for much longer than a spawn in Ground Battles.
Not to mention that most ASW vessels would just be exterminated on sight by larger vessels the very second a match begins, just like all lighter vessels already are.
if they added a greater variety of objectives, which could only be done by destroyers and lighter ships either by just capability or some feature like scouting, then more ppl would want to play destroyers.
they could also add maps that use terrain to protect smaller ships
Not gonna lie, I’m mostly here at this point for the modern stuff. People will argue, but the WW2 stuff especially, is fairly adequately represented in game.
In general, we’re mostly at the stage of the game’s development where everything left to come is going to be hairsplitting over what is basically cosmetic differences in form or in function.
Top tier air is the last place where major additions can really be made. There is no SEP v4, T-14 Armata is hardly in serial production at all, most Western European tanks are about done as well (aside from the Leo 2), ground is about finished without going full paper-tank mode.
